This has been festering at Stripcreator for far too long now. Someone had to step up and say it...

It's time for the 2008 NFL season. Let's  DO IT!!!!!!!

These picks are against the spread and are meant only for entertainment purposes. If you think you can do better than me feel free to add your own picks below. Whoever the smart guy is who copies my post on Monday and adds all the right scores and makes all the right picks cause the games have already been played and they think it's really funny can go fuck themselves. Seriously, go fuck yourself if you do that. It isn't funny and you aren't cute. I would also like to apologize to everyone in advance for posting at length about sports. I know some users here feel that sports talk has no place at SC, but those losers are just overly coddled losers who's parents don't really know how to express their love for them. And now let's get to it...

With my luck, he'll find the cure for aging and become immortal, leading the Raiders to an infinite number of losses.
I WANT TO WIN A GODDAMN SEASON!!!  Jesus.  I remember, the last year Gannon played, we almost did it.  Got to the superbowl and lost hard.  *sigh*

That brings me to a total record of (7-8-1). Not off to a great start, but it really takes a few weeks to see how the teams fall each NFL season, hopefully next week will take a step forward and I can get above the .500 marker.

In better news dcom went (3-12) for the week so that makes me the winner. I'm really looking forward to week 3. Should be alot of fun!

Week 3 is finally upon us and it couldn't have gotten here quick enough. I'm pretty pumped so I figuered I'd get the picks in a day earlier. Feeling pretty good. Pretty good.

Jets (1-1)@Chargers (0-2)

Maybe both will in which case it will be a tie for the week, but considering i won week one, I will then win the tie breaker and officially emerge as this weeks champion. Should be alot of fun. Lets all keep up the good work.

Packers 5-5

Remaining Schedule:

@Saints, Panthers, Texans, @Jags, @Bears, Lions

That is a very do-able schedule and with the most talent in the division they should run away with this thing. Unless they throw more clunkers in there like they did last week against Minnesota. I thought they were the best team in the division before the season started andI think they are the best team now.

Vikings 5-5

Remaining schedule:

@Jags, Bears, @Lions, @ Cardinals, Falcons, Giants

That isn't the easiest of schedules andI see them falling out of the picture very soon. They need to win those next 3 games for sure if they wanna hang around at the top and have any chance in the end.

Bears 5-5

Remaining schedule:

@Rams, @Vikings, Jags, Saints, @Texans

This years Bears bunch has proven to be an amazingly unlikeable team through their interviews and their innability to stop any team from doing anything lately. They gave up 200 yards of rushing offense to the Packers who's run game is pretty pedestrian. They sold out hoping not to get killed by the pass and ended up just getting killed in every aspect of the game. They just aren't a very good team this year.

It's a division that won't see any wild cards and a division that should definetly be won by the Packers. I'm just glad Favre wasn't there yesterday cause he wouyld have cut that D up even worse and it would have been alot worse than 37-3.

Definetly a very interesting week in football as the playoff picture is really starting to come into focus.

The NFC North race just keeps getting hotter every week. Let's take a look at what the rest of the year has in store.

Vikings 6-5

Remaining schedule:

Bears, @Lions, @ Cardinals, Falcons, Giants

That was a big win in Jacksonville this weekend to keep them neck and neck with the Bears for the division lead. They have a chance this weekend to take the Bears out and seeing as how they've won 5 of the last 6 games at home against the Bears they gotta be feeling good about this weekend. They have easily the hardest schedule left of anyone in the division so their road will be the hardest.

Bears 6-5

Remaining schedule:

@Vikings, Jags, Saints, Packers, @Texans

They were able to beat on the Rams exactly how they should have last weekend, but face a much harder test this week going up to Minnesota. I don't know. They should be alot worse than they are. They have no receivers. A pretty bad O-Line on paper and a D-Line that is playing way under it's potential, but somehow Lovie's boys keep managing to win games. Green Bay really showed how easy it is to just make a complete mockery of this team, but they have a chance for revenge at home later in the season. Should be interesting.

Packers 5-6

Remaining Schedule:

Panthers, Texans, @Jags, @Bears, Lions

Way to lay giant egg the week after destroying a division rival. They also have their biggest test of their remaining games coming up at home this weekend. A loss could be very damaging and put them 2 games back of the division leader with 4 games left. We'll see how it plays out for them.

Post #267287link

The NFC North race is...  WHITE HOT! right now.

Vikings 7-5

Remaining schedule:

@Lions, @ Cardinals, Falcons, Giants

That was a big win at home this weekend against a division rival. Unfortunetly that was the only good news for them as there season is in ruins with the Williams' suspension. Without those two stout defensive tackles you can count them out for the count. I'm gonna say it here and you can thank me later, but the Lions get their first win this week against the Vikings. It's all down hill for the purple people eaters.

Bears 6-6

Remaining schedule:

Jags, Saints, Packers, @Texans

Things are setting up pretty nicely for a division win. It's gonna come down to that Packers game at home on monday night. The Bears don't do well against the Packers on monday nights.

Packers 5-7

Remaining Schedule:

Texans, @Jags, @Bears, Lions

Great game this past weekend. I can't stand that Aaron Rodgers. Maybe I'm just a hater, but I don't like him at all. That hit Peppers put on him going out of bounds was an all time classic. It's all gonna come down to that game against Chicago on monday night.

 I feel pretty good about things.

That's right. This is what a winner looks like.

 The refs gave the Bears their christmas present early this year. The non-call of interferance by Tillman was gift #1, the bad spot for the first down was #2 and the weak-ass horse-collar in OT was the trifecta. Without the refs help the Bears would have been blown out. Seriousely, the Packers are a much better team than the Bears.

 I'll say it again

Absolutely agreed. And don't forget about the punt that hit Bush which turned into a Touchdown. I swear, the only way the Bears can win is by getting lucky.

After sleeping on it, I have to say I'm a little embarassed by my response last night. While it may be true that  win is a win and the PAckers and their fans should worry about getting more of them and less about the whinning, that doesn't really get to the heart of the matter at hand. Some interesting things were brought up and as a thread dedicated to the serious issues they should be discussed here and rather than just meaninglessly taunt I'd like to do my part to open up a dialogue rather than just throw out the "you suck" type taunts that often lead serious sports discussions on the internet into flame wars.

So lets start out with the fact that the Bears suck which was brought up by finn and agreed upon by bigfrank. Not only do the Bears suck, but the Packers are a much better team. I agree! The Bears are horrible. They have no WR's. They have a make shift O-line and their biggest offensive weapon is a rookie running back from Tulane. Forte is absolutely nothing special, he's just a guy who does his part. They have some TE's to throw to, but other than that they have nothing and their defense has been underwhelming all year. They have no buisness with 9 wins and I think it's a miracle that not only do they have 9 wins, but if not for critical meltdowns at Carolina earlier in the year and at Atlanta, not to mention the home OT loss to TB that the Bears could easily be a 11-12 win team.

Now whats the deal with the Packers? You guys are obviously more knowledgeable Packer fans than me. Admittedly the only games I've seen this year are the two games against the Bears and the game against the Panthers. Sure they stomped the Bears out something fierce in that first match up, but they haven't won since. Whats the deal? Why have the wheels fallen off the wagon so bad? Thios is a place for serious issues to be discussed and I'd love to hear from a serious fans perspective what went wrong in GB this year and going into next year how they feel about what sort of changes it is going to take to get back to the playoffs next year.

I'm full of the christmas cheer and would like to wish all the serious sports fans at stripcreator a very merry christmas and a happy holiday season and also a very happy new year. Keep up the great work boys and lets keep bringing it to the waltz in 09!

The key problem with the Packers this season has been the polar play-calling. too conservative when we need the big play and too ambitious when they needed to re-group. seven of our losses were by 4 points or less. That's madness. I think the original euphoria of not having Mike Sherman as our coach has worn off and we're seeing the shorcommings that McCarthy has. His playcalling has killed us. I don't think he's a lost cause, he just needs to step back and see how his plays have (not) worked.

Arizona?

And I'm not saying the Packers are this amazing team this year either. Christ, the Brett Favre drama killed us from the start and it seems everyone in the nation is waiting for Rodgers to fuck up somehow so they can talk about how Favre would have done things differently. We lead the league (I think) in penalties and penalty yardage, half our defense seems to be injured, our line can't block worth a shit, we have no pass rush, and James Jones is guaranteed to fumble one out of every three catches..

And I'll agree with Finn about McCarthy's playcalling. Letting Rodgers get hot against Carolina and then handing it off twice in a row on the two yard line was absolute horseshit and is really what began this whole downhill slide. And as soon as Rodgers throws a couple bad passes we put it in the hands of Ryan Grant for an entire quarter. You know, Ryan Grant, the guy who had a great half a season last year, got hurt, and now spends his days running into the backs of offensive linemen for three yards a carry while everyone talks about how great he still is.

My point is that the Packers ran the fucking table against the Bears for most of that game, and in typical Green Bay fashion, gave it all away thanks to stupid mistakes and bad playcalling (as usual). Besides, whenever two NFC North teams meet who knows what the outcome will be, especially when its Chicago-Green Bay. Packers could have the best team in the league and Chicago could have the worse and it'd still be a 27-24 war most of the time.

Lets look at the facts here. There are exactly 4 teams left in the NFL's playoff picture and only one of them can win. Now lets look at some hard cold facts on three of the four remaining teams. EAGLES, CARDINALS and RAVENS... ALL BIRDS! No big deal you're thinking,. but look deeper.  The last team with a bird name to play in the super bowl was the Seahawks. THEY LOST. The bucs logo features a feather in the bucs cap, but thast doesn't count. Super bowl XXIII featured the dirty bird Falcons. THEY LOST.

Oh shit... I forgot Super Bowl XXXV. I guess you can count the Ravens in, but the others are all destined to fail. I like that Rex Ryan. His father was a beautiful man.
