Vegan Before 6- treating meat as a feast instead of an every-meal standby helps your health and the environment.

What's this hippie/commie BS? Eat meat only ONCE a day?! I'm an American, goddammit, and I require 4 (four) things each and every day:

1. Steak and Eggs

2. BLTTs (Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, Tuna sandwiches [lettuce and tomato optional])

3. Half Rack of Ribs, Chicken Breast and Fried Shrimp smothered in Mushroom and Butter sauce, served with a Kielbasa and Saurkraut appetizer

4. For dessert, Frozen Turkey Legs smothered in Chocolate Sauce

I suppose these liberals wont be happy until they've not only fucked up national security and the economy, but also my menu!!!

I have IBS... I cant eat vegetarian (much less vegan) without running to the rest room every 20 minutes.  Thats WITH taking papaya enzymes to help me digest things I normally cant.

I'll consider becoming a vegetarian when they think of a way to make it as much fun as eating Mexican food, Texas barbecue, and meat lover's pizza.

Does Taco Bell 'meat' actually count as meat?

No.  But the special sauce the minimum wage servant puts on top of your taco does, considering its an animal byproduct.

A bit seriously - the Nutrisystem diet I'm on right now really pulls your consumption of the meat products back into Food Pyramid portions. I can have totally vegetarian days if I choose the meals right. Vegan would be harder but doable.

Like today - I had ff milk in the oatmeal and a small wedge of lite spreadable cheese on my toast. 1 oz of 2% cheese for a snack. Tonight I had the BBQ Beef dinner (with about 4 oz of beef, I'd say) and I added chicken breast because of the light breakfast protein. That's a typical amount of meat there - no more than 7 oz. for the whole day. Fruits, veggies, and whole grains are the rest of the diet.

I actually do the opposite.  I eat vegetarian at home and pretty much only eat meat outside of the house.  Even then, its mostly just seafood, but I'll have the occasional steak if it is USDA prime or carne asada if its gonna be awesome.

I has recently been proven that chicken is just a fast moving vegetable.

boloboffin, I hope the NutriSystem works better for you than it did for me.  I found it's extremely high in sodium and soy proteins, which produce more estrogen and are hard to digest properly.  I lost only 6 lbs (and $269.00/mo) in the whole first 2 months sticking to it very closely.  I also joined our fitness center at work and exercise regularly 3 times a week.

I didn't really start succeeding until I cut down on the NS meals and started eating more of my own proteins instead, sorta mixing the Atkins idea of low carbs and high proteins with 1 or 2 of the NS meals daily.  I've done that for the past 6 weeks or so and finally lost another 14 lbs.
