Since it appears that most people are missing what's really important, I'll say it.

Brad, I think the move is great, honestly. Before, I had a lot of problems loading the site, it would take ages and Internet Explorer would freeze. But now it runs like a dream, granted it'll take a while and some fine tuning to get it back to normal, but, hooray for you!

That's funny... the last three times I've tried to make a comic explorer crashed. That's never happened before.

Since Brad is so perfect in every way, this is quite obviously Gates's fault.

I agree, blame Gates. But I have the opposite problem from Kajun, Mine was fine before, and now I can't make comics, I did manage to get one in, it wasn't working then tried anyway, then it came up, that was weird!

I'm pretty sure Stripcreator can't crash your computer, so that's probably some sort of issue with your operating system stability.

As for the other complaints I don't know what to suggest. If you have access to another ISP or net connection, you might want to try that out. It could be that your ISP's connection to the Stripcreator server is a little wonky. It seems to be good for most people, myself included.

I didn't doubt it was Demon's fault for a moment, the bastards!

I've seen that before LadyJ it's good but I prefer the reindeer one. Oh and the joys of C.Y.B.O.R.G

Actually, of Lore's animations, the Microsoft one is the least funny, but it was the one appropriate to the post I quoted.

I particularly like the Kevin Smith one.

Brad: Maybe JrnymnNate didn't mean that Explorer crashed. maybe he meant that Internet Explorer crashed. I believe him, because it just happened to me, too. I'm pretty sure it was your comic creation page that caused it.

Yes- IE has been crashing and won't come back right after I move through stripcreator, especialy when I'm using drop down menus.

Trillian's acting buggy to BTW.

....oh, and Brad, the cold water tap in my kitchen is dripping. I am fairly certain it wasn't doing that before the host change.

My ass hurts, but it's ok Brad, I'm pretty sure Spankling's to blame for that.

Here's the thing: I changed nothing on the make.php page on the move to the new server. The make.php page on this server and the old one are 100% exactly the same.

The only thing that could be crashing your browser is some sort of crazy insane Javascript issue and I haven't touched the Javascript on that page in about six months (probably more.)

That being said, the Javascript on that page is a horrible piece of garbage. But if it didn't crash your browser on the other server, I can't think of any reason why it would crash your browser on this one. The only thing that's changed is the location.

And I can't get it to crash my browser or do anything crazy at all.

I'd tend to lay that at the door of your threadworm.

The comic creation page works on this WinME box running IE5 (though I do have to press stop, which wasn't necessary on the previous server). I'd've thought if it doesn't crash ME, it wouldn't crash anything.

You have to hit stop now, because it tries to load "none.gif" and I noticed in a couple of comics (Kitty_Kat's entry into the recent Comic Contest) it tries to load something called:

%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20.gif

but fails

I say it's a sign from the gods that Kitty_Kat's comics was horrible, so they cut it off. Instead, they just told us that it was 20% good and 80% horrendous.

Kitty has a virus? Is there a shot for it?

That notwithstanding, 3 people have reported it as happening since the switchover, myself included. I'm sure you didn't "do" anything, but the fact remains that the problem is actually occurring.

It's just like taking NetBEUI out of the network control panel doesn't actually do anything to help an ISP customer's problem, it just gives the impression that a tech support person is waving a magic wand to fix something. The odd thing is that it usually WORKS! For some reason, a large percentage of technical problems magically disappear when you make the customer remove NetBEUI and reboot.

I tend to think it's the digital gnomes, fucking with us.

Then I suggest you all take NetBEUI out of your network control panels and reboot.

Actually, a better one would be to clear your IE cache. Maybe you have some horrible versions of something cached.

Makes sens to me - I am running a fresh, clean install of Win2KPro (Still has that new OS smell!) which of course means a fresh install of IE5 and no browser cache. While I get the interminable loading thing (and my housemate's P3 with W98B and IE5) but no crashes. *shrug*
