We get people who are confused about their forum titles all the time. How about a question like this for the FAQ:

What determines what title is listed under my name in my forum posts? Can I change it?

Your title is based on the number of forum posts you have made. It will change automatically at pre-set milestones. If you would like a custom title, and you have donated money to support StripCreator, e-mail brad@stripcreator.com to request one. Titles should be no longer than about four words.

Why not post as your "JrnymnNate" alias and complete the set?

I've been thinking about the forum user titles as regards the constant influx of obnoxious newbies. When people first post to the forums, their title is "Stripcreator Newbie" we then get lots of messages like "You all hate newbies etc etc". I was wondering if dropping this title and making the first one Junior Comic Technician might calm them down, as they are not having their newbie-ness constantly flagged whenever they post.

But then theyy'll say "You hate Junior Comic technician" and whatnot.

Besides, without newbies, who (besides me) are we supposed to mock?

People were bagging on newbies and vice-versa long before there were titles on the forums. I don't think changing the wording will accomplish much.

This is a good idea though. Thanks evil_d. I'll try to get to it soon.

There is also the possibility... okay, the proven fact, that people will post a huge load of shit, sometimes even hitting the save button repeatedly on a single message, once they find out that posting numbers advance their title.

I vote we plead ignorance when newbies ask how the titles are calculated.

So we therefore make the first title sound nice and appealing so they don't end up in such a hurry to advance their title.

How about "Lord of all"?

nah, fuck the newbies, they only have to post, like, 15 times, which they usually do anyway with crap questions and moronic comics using the "I'll just stick this nail in my head" joke.

if the title's going to get changed, I vote it becomes:

"I'm a fucktard newbie moron!"

man, I need a smoke.

I like the word fucktard. If the first title were changed to that, I'd have to keep re-registering any time I got close to the pass-mark.

When somebody does this Brad could set that person's title to "Ignore Me", or maybe just ban that person from using sc.com for a yet-to-be-determined length of time (I vote for eternity).

I wanted to do this for a site I run, but people just sign up again under a different name.

That reminds me. When you first came here, you said you might give us the URL in a few months. Any chance?
