For this next comic, I decided to honor the greatest TV show in the history of, umm, TV. That last sentence could have been a little more eloquent, but too late now.

Cheers. It is my favorite show ever and I have personally had reconstructive surgery to resemble Norm. So this comic contest is all about paying homage to Cheers. Rules:

-Any background

-Characters have to be represented by those listed in the comic posts below.

Those are the only rules. I am a huge Cheers fan so the closer the comic is to keeping the personalities in character, the more I'll be impressed.

For those of you who aren't familar with Cheers, may your teeth rot and you be forever damned to a life of halitosis. Also, here's a link to a couple of the best websites having to do with Cheers, though these are by no means the only websites:

The contest begins now and ends Monday at 5pm Arizona time. (Since I just moved cross country. HaHa.) Ok, that's 7pm EST for all you who don't play Time Zone Jeopardy like me. Have fun.

I was going to "subtitle" this one "Reasons Not To Peak Early", but I didn't have the space.

I waited 'til the last minute and this is all I have to show. I was a fan of Cheers, but now I can't bring myself to watch the reruns at all for some reason... And with that said, here's what I thought a basic "Sam is desperate to get back into 'swinging'" script is like.

Oh, yeah. ObiJo, I got some time zone Whell of Fortune going on here. I live in Texas, my moms lives in Oregon, and my brother lives in Japan for the moment! I get fucked in the head when he calls at 11:00 pm here and says he has to go to work in a few minutes and be there at 9:00 am!

Thanks to everyone for putting up with my obsession. I personally can't stand many sitcoms. Cheers and Seinfeld happen to be the two main ones I like. However they may not be on some of your lists so this may have been hellish. Some of you may enjoy *cringe* Full House or such phrases as "Did I do that?"

Here's some feedback:

wirthling - quintessential cheers. perfectly in character.

gabe - you picked some of the best lines from cheers. my favorite still is: Woody - Jack Frost nipping at your nose, Mr. Peterson? Norm - Yeah, now let's get Joe Beer nipping at my liver.

crunchyfish - that second panel killed me. funny as hell plus an interaction between woody and coach, every cheers fan's dream (that and a threesome with rebecca and diane)

bunnerabb - comic 1 - having norm ventriloquize (I just made that word up, give me candy) cliff's voice for a beer is not only hilarious but also true to form for norm. (i just rhymed "norm" and "form," give me candy.)

bunnerabb - comic 2 - very unoriginal and boring. I have a sneaking suspicion you've plagerized this from somewhere, but i can't quite put my finger on where.

evil_d - I KNEW I was missing Ms. April from my collection! Damn him!

vortex - the added studio laughter cracked me up

bottlerockett - the last panel is probably exactly what would have happened if the show would have lasted another couple of years. sad but funny.

As usual, a couple were close, but one of them made me laugh a little more and had a great twist right out of the Cheers gamebook. So the winner is:

8168

Congratulations bunner and please don't pay me back with a "Mama's Family" theme.
