I propose another Stripcreator fest, this one in the Baltimore/D.C. metro area. To the best of my knowledge, this includes kaufman, wirthling, boorite and evil_d. As well as anyone else that might be able to show up.

I'm planning on taking a week off to head down to North Carolina to see my sister and I was going to swing through the area and visit with boorite for at least a day. I figure if two of us are there, we might as well try for everyone else.

I'd like to get some idea of if the rest of you are interested in at least hanging out some evening and swilling back a few cold ones. If so, it would help to know generalities of when you guys have free time. Right now my schedule is pretty free, and even if I can't make it during this trip, I might just hop on a plane and jet over for the weekend. (Considering that flights stay in the $100 range where they are now.)

But it would help to know when you are free so as to make this as smooth as possible. If nothing else we can just go egg wirthling's house and leave a bag of flaming poop on his doorstep.

Post here if you'd like, or email me.

Wow. No wonder Amtrak is having troubles. I checked the price of an Acela ticket from New Haven to D.C... $285. They list that as Business Class; either that's all the have on Acela, or that is all that was available.

Meanwhile, I can get a ticket from Hartford to D.C. on Continental for $115.

I'd be interested, sort of depends on when.

my music teacher has been going through this big thing quiting smoking. every time i see him its like, dude, ive been X weeks + 1 since i stopped! he goes off the patch soon.

anyway, the joys of aging include being able to smoke, drink, drive, and buy guns. And then theres the age of consent, but thats another story.

ah what does it matter, ive still got 5 years or more of school left.

Then again, who'd want to wind up with a body like Whitney Houston after all that?

Antisocial though I may be, I don't see how I could pass up the chance to hang out with such stripping luminaries. Not to mention the chance to witness the historic first face-to-face meeting of wirthling and Gabe.

Weekends are good. The weekend of March 9-10 is bad. I guess the following weekend is too... I should find out whether my family expects me to visit for St. Patrick's Day. Other than that, I don't have any concrete plans before about May.

I'm over 21, but I don't actually drink alcohol, so anywhere we go is all the same to me as long as I can get a Coke. If there are underage people interested in attending, it would be cool if we went somewhere that will at least let them in the door.

March 24-30 is out for me.

I know a great place in Arbutus called "Shuffles' Saloon." It's a cinderblock basement across from the railroad tracks. All the machinists and plumbers and truck drivers drink there. There's a 24-hour porn emporium right next door.

I'm specifically busy from now up through Feb 23. After that, I think my calendar's clear until June.

I'm not quite social, either, so we probably wouldn't want me to make arrangements unless you all think hanging out in my living room watching me play Grand Theft Auto 3 is a good time. I do have a couple of recommendations, though.

There are two places I can think of that would allow underage folks in and provide entertainment while allowing us alkies to drink if we want. There's Dave & Buster's in White Flint (Bethesda), which is near DC and offers bar/restaurant/game room. I haven't been there, but I hear they have cool virtual reality games and good food. Jillian's, located at Arundel Mills mall (Hanover, MD, very near BWI airport), is similar to Dave & Buster's (booze/food/games) but also includes a bowling alley. Both places have pool tables. It would probably be a good idea to get to either place early, as they are enormously popular and get crowded on weekend nights.

Plus, Jillian's or Dave & Buster's would be good places to take boorite so we can hear him rant about vapid American materialistic soullessness.

If it turns out that everyone coming is 21, I don't mind going to a bar, but I'm not sure I want to go to a Teamster's hangout. I do like dives, but that sounds a bit divier than I'd like. I also wouldn't want to go to a dance club where you can't hear anybody talk. Other than those preferences, I'm open to going anywhere.

Just let me know where and when we're meeting and I'll be there with bells on. And maybe pants, too.

I have a spare bedroom and sleeper sofa in my house, so I can put a couple people up if necessary, as well.

By the way, as far as I'm concerned, anyone is welcome who wants to come. Just stay away from my bitch.

Ok. I've nailed down a couple of tentative dates. Ideally this should happen on a weekend, and it needs to be the one at the end of my trip 'cause it's a lot shorter to shoot home from DC instead of SC.

My thoughts were either the 15th or the 22nd of March. I know at least evil_d wasn't so hot on the 15th, and I know boorite's skipping town on the 24th and he might need to pack. So those dates might be sucky for y'all.

If not those, then we might have to bump it ahead a month or so into late April.

Thoughts?

PS - I got dibs on wirthing's spare bedroom. It'll be a lot easier to set the house on fire if I can get the accelerants inside.

I could work with the weekend of March 15-17, but it sounds like kaufman can't. April 26-28 is out for me now. There's a slight chance that that will change within the next few days, but probably not. March 8-10 is still out for me too. Any other weekend in March, April or even May should be fine for me, but the sooner we can get a date nailed down, the better.

Wirthling's suggestions for where to go sound like good ones. I don't know this area as well as I ought to, so I can't really offer ideas. Unless you want to go into DC and see some national monuments. We could spray paint "TOBOR CORNHOLED ABE" on the Lincoln Memorial.

You work-at-night bastards. Ok, how about the 23rd? How are people situated during the day? Wirthling mentioned a Dave & Buster's. There's one here. It's a big ass building with a couple of bars, a restaurant, an assload of pool tables and an even bigger assload of really sweet video games. The kind that are 2, 4 or 8 player and that cost a buck or two to play. You can get in if you're underage as long as you have a chaperone around 26 or so, and there are enough of us old people to go around.

If you don't waste a lot of money on games it isn't too pricey, and there's a fair amount of stuff to do.

If people aren't up for that we could do other stuff. If we can do stuff during the day instead of just at night there's probably more options open, like going to the Smithsonian and trying to steal Archie Bunker's chair.

So, thoughts about Saturday the 23rd during the day/evening?

Depends where you're overnighting.

IIRC, Wirthling's in Columbia which is most convenient to BWI. The Dave and Buster's is at White Flint, which is probably most convenient to DCA -- plus, National's got a Metro station, and D&B's is maybe a 10 minute walk from the White Flint stop.

If money is an issue, going via BWI's usually around $100 cheaper.

I live roughly equidistant from all three area airports, so I patronize them all.

Actually, I live in Odenton now, which is 5-10 minutes from BWI.

Personally, I DESPISE Reagan National. It's a crappy little airport in a crappy part of DC. As kaufman pointed out, however, it does have the Metro stop.

If you want to fly into BWI and don't want to rent a car, I could come pick you up.

If you want to fly into Dulles, you're on your own.

As for day or night on 3/23, either or both is fine with me.

The 23rd is fine for me too... anytime Friday - Sunday during any of my free weekends should be okay.

I'd have to recommend BWI too, unless you're taking the Metro. It's a better airport, and they're likely to be slightly less paranoid about security. Also, I've driven around and through Reagan in circles just trying to figure out how to leave the damn place.

I have never stayed at a hotel around here, but there are several near BWI. They should be fairly new and nice, as far as I know. I have stayed at and enjoyed Holiday Inn Express hotels in various places, though. I think their prices are probably better than Marriott or Sheraton.

The Wirthling Inn has digital cable, the complete set of Monty Python episodes on DVD, and a high-grade espresso machine, but it does not have room service. It also has three cats and two smokers, so those with sensitivities to such things may find the accommodations less amenable. The rates are very affordable, provided you don't think suprise sodomy is too high a price.

Senor boorite clued me in as to his availability and apparently he'll be flying out on the 22nd so he's going to miss things if we keep this date.

So let's open up this can of worms again. We've pretty much scrapped all of March. If we look at April when people have time available, I see either the 13th/14th or the 20th/21st. (Both Friday/Saturday).

How do these dates look?

I hope fuzzy didn't already order a ticket, or else it would suck. If so, we should probably keep the first date.

Planning things is a giant pain in the patootie.

Also, who's serious about coming to this? I assume that if possible kaufman, wirthling, boorite and evil_d will show up. I'll be driving through, and it looks as though fuzzy will try to fly down. Bunner might drive but if we change the dates it'll probably conflict with his work schedule.

Maybe we could care some sort of temporal rift that'd let us all meet outside the bounds of normal space/time.
