I don't know where or how it started, but appraratnly the date/time 4:20 has something to do with smoking pot. Kinda like May 5th really has no personal meaning to most of the people in the USA who celebrate it, but just use it as an excuse to drink lots of Mexican beer and tequila.

I've already received 4 calls today from my pot head friends saying we should hang out and get high because it's 4-20. I was like "Dude, gotta take care of the baby." They seemed kinda hurt but I'm sure they'll forget all about it by later this afternoon.

4-20? I stopped burning the bush in the late 80s. Did this come into play after that?

I believe 4-20 is the police code for marijuana use.
As in "We've got a 4-20 in progress! Punk kids smoking reefer." At least thats what I've always been told.
