I'll be there for only a few days and I'm not sure how much time I'll have to spare while there. We're going there for my wife's graduation ceremony (University of Phoenix Online) and her folks will be in town, too, so I'll probably be stuck doing touristy stuff or drinking myself into a stupor. I'll let you know some time in June if I'll have enough time to meet you for for a drink or head or whatever.

I just checked with Mrs. wirthling and we'll be in Phoenix June 27 - 30. She says we can make some spare time Friday early or Saturday afternoon or later.

We're going to rent a Mercedes CLK430 convertible for the day on Sunday and wanted to take a scenic drive with it. Any recommendations for something scenic within a couple of hours of Phoenix?

Other than the Sunday we won't have a rental car, so if we're going to meet, it should probably be either at my hotel or somewhere near it.

Wow, thanks all. That was sweet. I missed everyone too except for those of you I don't know, and even then, I missed the promise of you.

Truth is, I've been getting my shit together. I've lost 75 pounds, quit smoking, and am being treated for ADD. The latter has been especially helpful, since my mind now isn't wandering tangentially all the time but can actually concentrate, allowing me to finally TRULY enjoy the pleasures of Porky's Revenge, Benny Hill, and the History Channel. (That order.)

Sounds good to me. My semester just ended, so my calendar is blissfully empty for 3 months. There is that vegas trip, but it's from the 11th - 24th of June, so the timing works out well.

Boy, there are a lot of beautiful places within a couple of hours of Phoenix, but one stands above all: Sedona. People come from all over the world to see its red rock mountains. It's also supposed to be one of the top 5 chi-centering locations in the world, which leads to the interesting blend of Arizona's archetypal old-west stores next to healing crystal shops. They also have a beautiful church built right into the red rock mountain side. Lots of restaurants too. In the negative column though, it is right at the 2 hour mark you mentioned. (If you do go to Sedona, you have to stop by Jerome. It's about 20 miles away if memory serves, and is a little artist community built on a hilltop. The road is windy and steep, but the view makes it worth it.)

I didn't get a life... I just needed a break from all these internet commitments - lists, boards, groups, sites, etc.

I'm gradually taking it all up again, but I'm taking a permanent break from a real-life commitment. Sam and I broke up.

So, between trying not to let my personal life impact my work performance, apartment hunting, and trying to sell my magic cards so I can afford rent&deposit (I'm disheartened by the lack of interest in the old cards. I felt certain they'd be worth more than they are. *sigh*), I'm afraid I can halfway pay attention.
