I'm just curious if any of you regularly read the online strips which most of the characters come from. They were nice enough to allow their art to be used, and I am wondering if they have gained any traffic from it. Diesel Sweeties gained me - read the archive, check for new strips every day, great strip. I was already a fan of Penny Arcade (where I got the link to this place) and explodingdog. How about you guys? Are you reading the art-contributors' strips?

(Apart from mine, since I don't have one. *grin*)

Hey! My subject line got truncated! :(

It was supposed to read: Do you guys read the "donor" strips?

Looks like the subject line doesn't like double quotes.

Some of them. Here's my list of daily (weekly) reads...

Bobbins
Goats
Penny Arcade
Red Meat
User Friendly
Waiting for Bob
PVP
Diesel Sweeties
Inktank
Cool Cat Studio
You Damn Kid

I was reading all of these pretty religiously before I ever found Lowpass. I'm pretty sure it was a link from Diesel Sweeties that got me here in the first place. R. Stevens said something like, 'Go make your own comics, and put Clango in them!'. So I did.

At the beginning, a lot of my comics were using not just the images from those comics, but the characters as well. (i.e. lots of Clango & Maura strips, Goats characters making fun of Jon, etc.) I even sent a bunch of them to Rich thanking him for allowing us to use his comics in our silly exploits. He especially liked Clango's last comment from this strip...

2672

So all these comic artists rule! Oddly enough, I've never spent much time at exploding dog, and I probably use his stick figure guys more than anything else in my comics. Go figure.

In no particular order.

I read regularly:

Sluggy Freelance
Sinfest
When I Grow Up
Diesel Sweeties
Goats
Exploitation Now
Cool Cat Studio
8-Bit Theater

I also very much enjoy, but do not read regularly:

Exploding Dog (though I don't really consider it a comic per se)
Jerkcity
Unlike Minvera
Wendy
Bobbins
Pokey the Penguin

You are not truly a citizen of the internet until you can quote at least one line from Pokey the Penguin.

I think I found this site the same way Gabe did, i.e. from the link at Diesel Sweeties, but I can't recall for sure. When I first got here, I wasn't familiar with any of the donor strips except that and Jerkcity, but I've since read both Goats and When I Grow Up from day one.

Here's what I want to know: do any of you guys frequent any "Q&A" sites? Such as True Meaning of Life, Forum 3000, or (my personal favorite) Master Ninja and his Amazing Friends? I think I saw descolada ask a question at the late, lamented Conversatron, but other than that....

Oh no! Italians!

I love Pokey the Penguin. I also got into goats, exploding dog, and red meat. But I don't visit often. When I go I'll read like 2 hours of archives though.

I found this site through the red meat unofficial page, where you can make your own read meat comics. Unfortunately, it's a members only site, so non-member's comics only get stored for a couple of days at most.

I just don't have the bandwith to read all the dailies, and I always forget to go back.
I've read several of them from the beginning.

My every-day strips:

Sluggy Freelance, one of the oldest and best.
http://www.sluggy.com/

SinFest, fantastic mix of blasphemy and pimp culture.
http://sinfest.net/

PvP (Player vs Player) , an hilarious daily about the staff of a PC games magazine.
http://www.pvponline.com/

Penny Arcade, one of the greats, but only has a new strip every second day.
http://www.penny-arcade.com/

Demise presents Boomslang, a new one by the guy who used to do Demise.

Diesel Sweeties, great fun.

explodingdog, though Sam's only putting up new images once a week or so these days.
http://www.explodingdog.com/

This Modern World, by Tom Tomorrow, I read this one every monday when it comes online. The best political cartoon in history.
http://www.thismodernworld.com/

User Friendly, which used to be excellent, but has sunk into nerdy navel-gazing lately. Pity.

Other strips which I have read a bit but never read all of the archives, so don't read every day:

Calvin and Hobbes online, which is being put up day-to-day in original publishing order.

Dragon Tails, very cute, very funny, and very original, but I never finished the archive.
http://www.dragon-tails.com/

Non Sequitur, the hilarious newspaper strip, new one online daily.
