Wow, three similar threads at the top, and none of them are conversing about the same thing, even though they were all started by the same person.

Man, you guys have been well trained. You see a thread with a picture at the top and you all think you're supposed to write a caption. I just wanted you all to enjoy the silly little play on words. But by all means, caption away. (Though I didn't think this picture was particularly funny.)

Upon seeing this picture, Sting thinks back to the classic Police song lyric

"Caught between the Scylla and Charybdis"

and re-writes the entire song, ushering in the Apocolypse.

...and then Puff Daddy records it for him, and a mob of angry music lovers beat the motherfucker to death for crimes against sound. The Apocalypse is narrowly averted, and the Top 40 suddenly looks a helluva lot more appealing.

A remarkably apt analogy - he does, after all, take bits and pieces from perfectly good songs and sew them together into hideous monstrosities, grotesque parodies of the songs they once were.

Does that mean that Britney Spears is the Bride of Frankenstein?

I used to listen to old school rap. Well, it was actually new when I listened to it, but I say "old school" because then i getz my props.

But, Victory by PD Combs (PD for Police Department) is one fine song, sampled from the Rocky soundtrack.

I went bowling the other night with some friends and I heard one of the tracks off the Beastie Boys 'Licensed to Ill' album. And I realized that I still know all the words off the whole thing.

Which made me wonder how much space crap like that is taking up in my head that might be better spent remembering things like important meetings or birthdays or such.

But I probably shouldn't have told my wife that being able to sing 'Paul Revere' was the reason she didn't get anything for her anniversary.

It'll be okay thought, 'cause when I go to work today I'll just tell everyone the black eye is from a bar fight. And she was nice enough to pop the dislocated shoulder back in, so you can't even see that.

You gotta wonder if those songs in our heads are compressed in MP3 format, and if the images are MPEGs or AVIs, and if our nigtmares are in 16 or 32 bit color...
Oh dear god...

I've thought about that. What if everything we've ever seen, heard, felt, etc. is in our heads, only most of us just can't recall it? So what if our whole life up to now was available to us in video format. Assuming I was asleep 8 hrs out of every 24, that's around 150,000 hours of video. Figure maybe 50 Mb an hour for compressed video, that's about 7.5 Terrabytes in my head. Eat your heart out, Western Digital!

How cool would it be to sit down in front of a special database front end that could connect to your brain and pull out anything you want?

How many times did I have cornflakes from 1982 to 1987? What was I wearing on June 13th, 1993? How many pounds of marshmallows have I eaten in my life?

Well, when you think about it, the memories get distorted, and you can only remember snippets, short bits, not to mention for the most part, you don't remember imagery, mostly just ideas and information. Terrabytes, perhaps, but just imagine all our software. Then there's ram, processor, drivers for all our hardware, not to mention all that creative shit that comes outta nowhere.
