What? Today 10/10 or today the day you write the strip?

And only the ONE background background you show? There are a few.

I'd like to kick things off with a little blatant disregard for the rules, judging that it's more important to follow my muse. Don't worry, I don't expect to win or anything.

Invasive D.C. Police Searches Alleged

Seemingly tailor-made for this contest. The only problem is that I can't imagine writing a comic that would be funnier or more stupid than the events described in the article itself.

Damn. You beat me to it.

I'm itchin' for a good old-fashioned rule-breaking contest winner. And only partly because it's my only chance of winning.

Two more from the WSJ. I dedicate these to kaufman.

94071

Here's a little cultural background for the last comic... in America, if a performer does really badly, it's called "bombing," but I believe outside America "bombing" refers to "doing really well." As I'm in the middle of America, I was relying on the first definition.

(Otherwise, I realize, the comic makes little sense. It might make little sense, anyway.)

I also think this is a great idea for a contest, if a bit restrictive on the details.

But if you say that something was "da bomb" then you're commenting favorably. Wonder if that has any relationship to the whole bomb thing?

I have to admit, at first I was skeptical. Then as I made a couple of entries, it occurred to me how ridiculous some of these headlines can get, and how funny our comics could be by using them. Yeah, I agree that this is a good idea for a contest. And the restrictions seem to make this contest more challenging, in my opinion.
