This is the forum to discuss things related to the Stripcreator CD swap.

Here's a quick repost of the stuff I said in the thread in the General Discussion forum:

quote:
I'd like to keep this swap as simple as possible and see if it actually works. If this one comes off without a hitch, maybe we can do another round and complicate it and make it harder to manage.

It will be audio CDs rather than MP3s.

I'm not going to do any geographical sorting. If postage is going to be an issue, you may not want to participate.

If you want to be involved, send your mailing address, your email address and your Stripcreator username to cdswap@stripcreator.com by Monday, December 16th. You will get a confirmation reply.

I will divide the names and addresses up into groups and I will mail the group address lists out on Thursday, December 19th.

Once the group lists are sent, you have until January 19th to mail your mix CD to the people in your group. Please label and include track lists with the CDs.

Thanks.

I have a CD burner you could use Andy, but it's on my Mac, and you said nasty things about it, so you can go jump off a bridge, faggot.

sorry if i sound a little dense... but what does the no Mp3 restriction apply to? I mean, all the CDs I mix are almost exclusively Mp3 files originally... but the CD's i burn play on all normal CD players... I'm a bit confused.
Can someone straighten out my stupid ass?

Burn a music CD that plays in a CD player, not a data CD with a shitload of MP3s on it. Sounds like you're doing the right thing.

If none of you use like five-year-old CD players, I doubt if you'll have trouble with MP3s. I THINK all the new players support them.

That could be your deal too, Artemis. Maybe you're using a CD player that supports MP3 files. Might I suggest Nero: Burning Rom? It has a feature that allows you to automatically burn all music files as CD audio tracks.

If I'm the one being dense, please don't hesitate to slap my stupid ass straight... er... I'll shut up now.

I donno... i use roxio, since that's the app that came with our fabulous dell, and when i burn the cds, i do it under "Make Music CD" not "Make Data CD", so I gather that there should not be a problem... plus, my portable disc player that I use is like four years old or more, and the other ones I have are even older, and my dics work on those as well...

On a side note, I have my track list almost completed... just have two more songs to dig up... then the cancer that is my horrible taste will be spread globally....

A-Moo-Wah-Hah-Hah-Hah-Ahhhhhhh....

ahem... so... yeh...

Whoo-hoo! Got all the Cds burnt, got all the liner notes printed, and now they all sit on my computer desk, snug and warm in their jewel cases, waiting to be sent off to the post!

whoopee... hopefully a couple might get to their destinations by christmas... Happy Holidays!

Mine are burnt, but I don't have the cases yet. Don't expect much in the way of fancy packaging, by the way. :p

I'll either post or e-mail my impressions of the music I chose, and why I chose it (if such a thing can be articulated in the first place) after I've received confirmation that those of you who are on my list have recieved and listened to the CDs. I would like you to formulate your own visions/opinions from the music before hearing about mine.

My CDs are all labeled and the cover slips/tracklists made. I'll be shipping them off over the course of next week.

Hi, fellow StripCreator CD swap recipients.

I just got home from the hospital. I was there all weekend after being admitted from the emergency room with a blood glucose level of 563. That's, like... fuckoff high, by the way. Anyhoo, I am now a high maintenence diabetic. Daily insulin shots, blood glucose level moitoring, new diet, not smoking anymore, etc....

The point is, this is gong to take a few dayes to sort out so PLEASE don't think I blew you off, I just need a little more time to assemble and burn your CD's.

Thanks.

I have my CDs all assembled and packaged, and they will be mailed Thursday or Friday.

Gabe - I got your CD. It's amazing how much our musical taste differs. I still think you're a stud, though. Thanks for sending the nude pics! :)

Having received Gabe's CD, I can tell that you will be amazed at how your musical tastes and mine differ, as well. Gabe's CD runs along many of the same musical threads as mine. Or, rather, I found something I like or own in all of his tracks.

Maybe it shouldn't be surprising that a couple of folically-challenged mid-thirties white guys who make comics and who's wives kept their last names have similar musical tastes.

Surprised you don't have the CD yet if it has made to Oregon and Glasgow. But maybe it is in your mail room. If you don't have it by the weekend, let me know and I can confirm your address and burn another one.

I haven't had a chance to give it a listen yet, but I'm going to give it a go during my commute this week. Mostly groups I haven't heard of, so I sense that I'm in for some surprises. Or in some cases heard of the group (They Might Be Giants, Moxy Fruvous, Tenacious D) but couldn't name a song or the type of music they do.

Drexle suprised me by naming off only about three bands that I'd heard before, so perhaps I will send a few out. Nothing fancy though..

This isn't something you "join in at some point". Brad collected names at the beginning, then assigned groups. We're considering doing another go-round at some point down the road. Stay tuned for that, and join up when brad asks for participants.

Wow, that was quicker than expected. I'm glad you liked it! And I hope my handwriting wasn't hard to read.

I have this urge to follow the example of others and start my own commentary/explanation thread. I probably might as well. It might be the only time I actually start a thread.

I just received LadyJ's cd this morning. Some good stuff on it (I've always like Cake, and am a big fan of Tenacious D), but there's maybe a few too many comedy records on it for my tastes.
