I'm curious to see some of your earliest comics. What were they about? How has the subject matter and style changed from those earlier days? How much *did* you suck back then? Admittedtly, I am relatively new, and I don't think much has changed in mine yet. But here's one of my earliest anyways.

I remeber mine... it was entitled BANZAI! Place your bets now! How'd you copy yours to the message board?

Funny you should ask....

We've brainstormed together a FAQ which Mike was good enough to compile and host (for now). So you can be the first guinea pig to see if actually works.

Here's the address...

http://justice.loyola.edu/~mcoffey/etc/scfaq.html

It holds the answers to all of your questions. And then some.

In my case it was something like I'm playing with the interface, bringing up some random characters, wondering what seems conducive to a joke, when I hit the gabe-on-bench image and the fire prop (both conveniently at the top of their character columns), and it looks like the perfect place for a Forrest Gump riff, and this is what results:

Before that first day was over, I'd posted something like a couple dozen on a variety of subjects, ranging from cheap one-liners to ...

Heck, check out here if you care to.

This is one of 16 comics I made on my first day here.

Sad.

Don, click quote under this post and check the code for clues. I was one of the annoying ones that made them dream up the FAQ.

I posted this recently in the great Festival of Jesus Thread, but since you asked.

The difference between my early comics and my recent comics is that the early ones contained humor, whereas the recent ones contain sex jokes and references to message board regulars.

Speaking of the FAQ, I mailed the necessary files to Johnny on Monday night, but haven't heard back yet. Hopefully he'll post it on the site in some highly visible location.

Here's one more from my first day. Comic #908. It was just after Christmas. As you can see, the exploding dog stick figure immediately became my Joe Bloke everyman.

I love that third panel, bunner.

Also, I see that I was wrong about how many "old-school" people are still around. January 10th, impressive.

(Not that it should matter when your comics were made. Just observing.)

Here's my very first, way back on the 8th January. Wow, number 294, that is early!

*sigh* Not what I would call an auspicious start.

Oh, and here is the first ever Low Pass Industries Strip Creator strip, written by our great benefactor Johnny, for those who have never seen it. I know it was not really meant to be funny, but that third panel cracks me up. :)

I'm not quite as prolific as others. I only posted 9 comics my first day. Most of the were pretty mediocre, but I still like the last one I did that day...

Early on, my comics had an actual storyline. I've been trying to make myself go back to it, but I'm not listening to me.

Anyway, my very first comic is as unimpressive as all the other people's.

Plus, it's well into the 8000s, so I'm not anything resembling 'new'.

To all those bragging about being in the 100's, I give you comic number 27, my very first comic. It's dated January 7th, only one day after the first strip went up.

27

Too bad it sucks so much.

Of all my early comics, this one was my favourite. It's typical of my sucessful strips back then: humour based on the strip creator itself. And even back then, there was a *lot* of material. ;)

And because I'm such a twisted egomaniac, I'd like to point out that this strip made #1 (back when the rankings actually mattered) and was posted (as a link) on the Lowpass home page.

I didn't write this comic (comic #2), but it scares the hell out of me. Not just because of the freaky evil twin Mel Gibson thing going on, but because it uses the valley background. THERE WAS NO VALLEY BACKGROUND ON JAN 6! IT DIDN'T EXIST!!

I don't know how you did it, Johnny, but you should be careful about playing with the space-time continuum. Bad things could happen.
