A disembodied mind?

Christian theology says we all have a disembodied mind/soul that exists independent of our brain that lives on after death.
Are you absolutely sure about that? Doesn't brain function directly effect such things as cognitive ability, emotion, and self identity?
Look, I'll prove it to you. I'll ablate part of my brain and my mind/soul will live on without detriment. This will be minor compared to actually dying..
Don't be a fool. No religious belief system is worth putting to the test. You might be 100% wrong and then mess yourself up for life.
