In the # 1.23 x 10 to the 11th power the # 11 is referred to as the exponent or power of ten. To put it in scientific notation you must put the decimal after the first digit and drop the zeros.
So the # 123,000,000,000 the coefficient is 1.23. To find the exponent count the # of places from the decimal to the end of the #. In 123,000,000,000 there are 11 places. so how would you write it.
Oh i know 1.23 x 10 to the 11th power.
