Finding B (Y-Intercept)
Mr. Algebra, How do you find the equation of a line using 2 points?
Well, because you dont know what M or B is, you first need to find them out. Let's say our 2 points were (3,5) (5,11). Then do 11-5 over 5-3 (Remember that It's always Y over X).
Finding B (Y-Intercept) Cont'd
alright
After you subtract, Your answer is 6 over 2. Then you can simplify that to 2. Believe it or not, you just found your M. Now, you have to find your B.
Finding M and Finding Equation
You can find B, by distributing the slope and one of the 2 points into the equation Y=Mx+B. So you will get 11=(3)(5)+B. Solve 5x3 and then subtract 15 each side, you got B. Now insert B & M in Y=Mx=B
