Was it hard getting that kind of performance out of your actors?
Yes and no. I remember the first day on set Kevin Keegans Perm walked up to me and asked, "Is Donkey Boy mostly donkey or mostly boy?"
I said "Kev, baby, he's EQUALLY donkey AND boy."
A look came over his face and he said "That must be confusing." "Exactly," I said. And from that point on, Kevin Keegans Perm WAS Donkey Boy.
