| While we're traveling back to our ship, let's share some more knowledge. You start. | |
 | | |
 | | |
| I know that currents in the liquid outer core cause the solid inner core to spin. The inner core spins slightly faster than the rest of the planet. | |
 | | |
 | | |
| Since it contains a large amount of iron, this creates Earth’s magnetic field, right? | |
 | | |
 | | |
| Exactly! One other thing I know is that the inner core has such extreme pressure that it squeezes the iron and nickel atoms so much that they cannot spread out and become a liquid. | |

The Asthenosphere is different than the Lithosphere because it is somewhat soft and “plastic†(it flows slowly).
 | | |
| It's amazing how much you learned! Remember the difference between the Lithosphere and the Asthenosphere! | |
 | | |
 | | |
| I know the difference! The Lithosphere is made up of the crust and the outer most part of the Mantle. It forms a rigid, rocky layer. The Asthenosphere is below the Lithosphere. | |
