It is 1964 and Bill is rich with his cotton farm he uses to make money by irrigating the water going to the Aral Sea.
Hmm...How should I make more money? Should I plant more cotton? Or...
This kid! All he ever thinks about is money! I won't be surprised if the lake dries up soon.
The lake has started to shrink because of the dam and the amount of water people use to farm their crops. The climate has also gotten more desert-like.
Dear Bill, Life is quite hard as a fisherman right now. There's not enough water to make a living because there is not a lot of water refilling the lake. I hope you're better off. Love, Sam.
Dear Bill, Life is quite hard as a chicken right now. There aren't enough cells in your brain to let you understand me because your brain is too small. It's shrinking! Love, Chicken.
The Aral Sea has shrunken and animals, people, and plants have withered and left. The loss of the sea has resulted in a dried up wasteland with contaminated water and dying people.
Why...? Why is there not enough water to sustain my crops? Why are people dying right after they drink the water and go through a sandstorm?
Well, I'm outta here! I'll send you a postcard from the kitchen! And remember to read a book!
