| I met this girl named Amy the other day. She lives in Lansing, but is from Birch Run. She loves to run and is in the process of planning her November wedding. She is so cool! | |

| Yeah, man, I think I know her. Didn't she just finish her 8th year of teaching at Wavelry High School? She teaches English and just started teaching French this year. She has her degrees from MSU. | |

| She was telling me that she has taught struggling readers since her second year at Waverly. She taught "Essentials English" classes, for kids who were reading and writing below grade level. | |

| I can imagine that must be tough! She told me the hardest thing about her job is her kids' apathy to reading and writing, and how many of them don't realize how important reading will be to them. | |

| Before I left, she told me that she is taking this literacy class at MSU to keep up her state certification. I didn't know teachers had to do that! | |

| Yeah, it's expensive, too! She told me she was hoping to learn how to ignite a fire in her kids about reading and writing, and help them see that where they want to get in life requires those skills. | |
