Every day Mark thought about Mrs. Edna and her garden. On his way home from work he stopped to visit and help Mrs. Edna in her garden. He learned about carrots, tomatoes, & cantaloupe.

| Oh working in a garden is hard for an old lady, but I have been doing it all of my life and it is nice to have sunshine on your face. | |

| It was very nice to meet you Mrs. Edna. Thank you for letting me see your garden. | |

One day Mrs. Edna wasn’t in her garden on Mark’s way home from work. He was a little sad. Mark walked up the steps to Mrs. Edna’s house after a little hesitation. He rang the bell.

| Oh Mark, I haven’t been feeling well and my body isn’t what it used to be, so I just admired the garden from my window today. | |

Mark asked if there was anything that she needed. Mrs. Edna offered to let Mark pick whatever veggies were ripe. Mark took a few carrots, potatoes, and a stalk of celery.
