| I have my BA in secondary education with a major in Social Studies and a minor in English from GVSU. This is my first masters program. I teach 6th-8th grade in the FYI room in Traverse City, MI | |

| Teaching in the FYI room, I see students everyday who struggle to read, write, comprehend, and who really are apathetic. | |
 | | |
 | | |
| My biggest challenge is getting the apathetic students to care. They are sent to my room for one on one help or small group help, and they don't want to be there. | |

| In this class I hope to learn how to engage the lost learner. I want to be able to bring literacy comprehension to those who struggle with literacy on a daily basis. | |

 | | |
| I am ready to learn everything I can about literacy and how I can teach it to struggling students. I look for exciting things to happen this semester. | |
