No one can beat Hollywood when it comes to making films with animals in them.
I remember films in my childhood and there were quite a few of them that had alsatin called Rin Tin Tin. This dog's acting is more impressive than a human's.
Irealized how reverently these animal-actors were treated when I happened to see the shooting of a movie in Disney Studio.

The main character was a shaggy dog .Ireached the studio that the shooting had not started;the cameraman was getting the lights ready.
It is customary for actors to be present when the lights are arranged, for they have to show the cameraman how they'll walk or where they'll stand in a particular shot.
In the case of a very famous stars, this is done by a stand-in.

Here in Disney Studio I noticed that a few actors were moving about in the set, and on one side, standing quitly was the protagonist`-the same dog.
The cameraman shoted everyone to take their positions.
But the dog remained where it was. This puzzled me.Could it not be required in the next shot?

In the case of a very famous star this job is done by their stand-ins.A stand-in is a person similiar to the real star. The stars arrive only after the lights are ready.
Here in the studio I noticed a few actor, moving in a set.Standing quietly was the dog.The cameraman shouted to everyone to take their place. But the dog remained as it is.Could it not be required?
Before I could ask someone an odd thing happened, from nowhere apeared a dwarf followed by a man carrying a dog skin. Then to my amazement the dwarf sat and the dog's skin was put on him.

The cameraman got busy with the lights. It finally dawned upon me that this dwarf was paid to be the dog's stand-in!

The shooting takes place near Shiuri. We want the tiger in a bamboo grove. Can your tiger do this?
Yes.How long will you need him?
Maybe a couple of hours for shooting. But that would be addition in time it'll take travel to and from Shiuri.

Do you think it's easy to set an animal free in the wild?
I'm not sure.I never let him out of his cage on his own,So really I don't know.
What! Were all our plans going to fail. How could Goopy and Bagha be petrified with the animal. No we could'nt allow this to happen.
I'll tie a wire around the tiger's neck. It'll be thin but strong.
Good idea! But you'll have to find a very long wire.
That's not a problem. The free end should be tied to an iron rod.

We finalized everything in ten minutes.
So please be here at....
Please do not worry sir Everyting will be fine.
We found a suitable bamboo grove to film.
Mr.Thorat's men fixed a five-foot rod.Threefifths was underground. The wire was tied to tiger skin collar which was put on the tiger and the other end to the rod.

We were ready. The door of the cage was unfastened.Mr.Thorat called the tiger. It responded and sprang out of its cage and landed on the open space outside.
Instead of walking calmly it was prancinng around. It leapt, jumped. rolled and was dragging its trainer who was clutching to the wire.
After approximately five minutes of madness the tiger calmed down.
A suddden taste of its natural environment had probably gone to his haed.

We managed to take a few shots we needed. However an another problem arose. The tiger was suppoed to jump on a stool.
UP!
The tiger ignore Mr.Thorat completely. It seemed more interested in tasting few bamboo leaves on the stem.
A tiger that chewed bamboo leaves could definitely not be a cannibal. The camera was taken closer to the tiger and used the remaining film to shoot the un-tiger-behaviour.

The tiger covered a distance of nearly sixty feet in a second.
This was teh end of the story. But when we saw the scenes it turned out to be that the camera was not working.

Now,every inhabitant was present during the shooing. We told the villagers not to stand near the camera.
I should not waste my time with the people, arguing.
When we opened the door the tiger roared and charged straight to the villagers.

Strangely after a great burst of energy it calmed down.Like an obedient child it quiely did as it was required.
Even the camera behaved this time. When we returned to Calcutta and saw the scenes shot.
