So, do all circles have a radius? & Why is that I always get questions about the radius wrong?
Okay, look. Take this equation for example:(x-2)^2+(y+8)^2= 81^2. Identify the center and radius?
The radius is 81 and the center is (2,-8). This is because you change the sign of each number to it its opposite sign when coming out of the parenthesis.
Your answer for the center is correct, but for the radius it isn't.
Ugh! How come?
Though the radius may appear to be 81 because the equation is equal to it. Be mindful that the 81 is squared. So to find the radius, you must take the square root of the number 81 which would be 9.
