If theres 3 terms it could be a simple trinomial. Use the sum and product rule. ie. X²-8x+12 = (x-6)(x-2)

It could also be a tricky trinomial so you will need to use decompositon method. ie. 3X²+14x+8 = (3x+12)(3x+2) /3 = (x+4)(3x+2)

4 terms? Try grouping in pairs. ie. 10X²-5x-6xy+3y = 5x(2x-1)-3y(2x-1) = (2x-1)(5x-3y)
