Over the mountains of both NC and SC swarmed 900 civilian fighters, many of whom where very skilled rifleman. They found Ferguson and his men entrenched in a foothill called Kings Mountain.

The battle was over. British was successful in SC and they inspired many SC patriots to fight. It is considered a turning point in the revolution because the British began to retreat from Up country.
