Life can be cruel.....

What is Worse?
But hate makes life and love impossible......

Goin postal?
Hey, I am an important part of the American Culture, the cigarette. After all, what keeps most people from jumping out of the office window on a tough day?
I 'd kill for a cigarette right now! May be the receptionist has one hidden someplace....?
America, the Beautiful!
I am as American as Apple Pie and John Wayne! Billions of dollars are spent each year to convince you that should kill yourself, by softly inhaling me..
If I don't look at it, maybe it will go away, Damn patches any way, guaranteed to work, my ass!
Going down the wrong path?
But we are giving up on you old bastards, we are aiming at the kids, they are the smokers of tomorrow!
I am not taken seriously by my friends, maybe I should start smoking?

Looking for....
80% of the people in this country, want our troops to come home. The President tells us that he knows best and sees the big picture.
Looking for the.....
The talk around the water cooler is that the big picture looks different to the people of this country, than to the president.
Looking for the Big Picture?
A lot of people think that this is the big picture that our troops are likely to see in Baghdad.

The folks gathered around their kitchen tables across the country, are worried about the future...
We live in a country in which we say no one is left behind......
No one except the President, who has escaped reality...
Karl, are you sure that this troop surge is what the people want?

The Prison Industrial Complex
The numbers of children offenders, mentally ill, and drug addicted convicts are more than 60% of the prison population in the U.S.
The New Jobs Creator
And the U.S. is now first in the world in the numbers of incarcerated people....beating out China and Russia..for that honor!
We lock up.. the ones that survive..
The U.S. now has more people in prison than in school. That is the real crime........

Education is our top concern..
Education is our number one priority according to the political class, the people we elect to office...the problems start when they try to figure out ways to pay for it..
We don't want to tax those who can afford to pay more..
The issue it seems is how to pay for it? After all we don't want to raise taxes on the ones who can afford to pay more, the top 2%, the one who have received the most tax cuts...
How about sending more kids to prison instead of school?
Too bad funding education is not like building prisons, we seem to be able to always find money for that...

Trying rationalize
They say to look on the bright side,, that it could be worse, I could be in Iraq..
$40K in student loan debt
That I could be hurt and in a bad way on the way to the ER.....
Sucks!!!
But everytime that I try to put a good face on it, it just doesn't work...that $40,000 in school loans just seems more like being in hell....

Life is fast..
Life is very fast paced , and the ideas that used to require some critical thought, are accepted without hesitation...
It's almost if the pace of life was sped up on purpose?
War is Hell, but pays a profit to the Capitalist Class..
The idea of war, and who goes to war, is another idea, that was at one time, a subject that required debate and a real threat to our country... Now war is just another part of the national psyche...
When you consider that our national leadership is a group of "Psychos," is that a surprise??
Peace is elusive, why?
What seems to require a lot of thought is the idea of waging peace, instead of war... But after all there aren't any no-bid $Billion Dollar contracts in a peace initiative....
What if we had a Peace-Industrial Complex instead of a military-industrial complex???

If sacrifice for our country is good?
People say that those who are doing the heavy lifting this war, are on the minds...
Between keeping track of who is still on American Idol and Nashville Star...
And we honor those sacrifices...
The Country & Western Singers like Trace Adkins and others, write and perform ballad after ballad about it
Just because you sing about people dying for their country, don't mean that you know anything about it...
How come it is only the working poor and the marginalized of our society in here?
It is giant leap from singing to steppin' up and raising your right hand...besides that is only for those poor slobs like us who answer a higher cause than $$$..
Besides, there aren't any fan appreciation days in here...

Why are they dyin' ...if he is cryin'?
People say that the man in this House cries for those who are doing the heavy lifting in this war in Iraq
If he is crying for those dying, how come he doesn't just stop the war???
Singing about sacrifice is all about justifyin' an evil war..
Pop and Country Singers talk about "makin' it to Arlington," like that is a bonus...
It is easy to sing about sacrifce when you are not making them...
For in the end, the quiet of death speaks louder than all of the voices of the right wing singing for the Power Paradigm
The songs don't resonate in this room, as they do in a bar with a beer in your hand, but isn't that the way it usually is? We don't see those singers in here...
Probably becuz there aren't any fan appreciation days in here....

Warehousing the Poor in the inner city
Especially if you are of color, poor and male...
they say that the inner city streets in America, can be real mean...
Keepin' the folks in their place..
What about those who come to the inner city for their drugs and sex from the suburbs??
They talk about crime in the inner city and blame it on the folks who live there....
The murder of hope is the crime committed by the power paradigm, regardless of color..
Yeah, invest their millions in a school in Africa, than in a school in Chicago..
Maybe the real crime is committed by those who have left the inner city for better things..riding on the backs of those who went before them..like MLK.

Some barriers are there on purpose..
Trying to get over the walls, either literal one or figurative ones, that have been placed in front of the poor....in the areas reserved for them..
It is easier to blame the poor for not trying harder, when you are breaking bread with the rich as one of them...
If the walls fail to keep them in, send in the police..
After all, it is the interests of the power paradigm that the police serve...not those of the poor and powerless
When the police are seen to be an occupying army by those who are poor, instead of a force that will defend their interests...
But by no means let them vote in any numbers..
If the poor would only vote.. the man in this house.. would have never left Crawford..
It is in this neighborhood, that they really get shook up if a lot of poor people would show up...asking for justice..the man that lives in that house does not like those displays of public dissent

When the bell...
The old saying that night is darkest before the dawn.. is so true when you have lost a friend
Especially when you are waiting for that strong voice who never tired of speaking out for those have no voice..
tolls for us.. will we be as...
We have to remember him as he was the last time we seen him, still a fighter..still that strong voice..
Facing death is something that all of us do, at some point in our lives.. it is how we live our lives that makes the difference..
...courageous as our friend was?
we will miss his good spirit, his bravery and his humanity that gave him that strong voice
but we are stronger from having known him and are blessed to have shared with him... a common goal of justice for all and a better world for everyone...

While Britney shaves her head..
Our President is always thinking about what is best for all of the people in this country..
Yeah...his new budget is representative of what he thinks of the people of this country... this budget contains a repeal of the estate tax..
And we worry about American Idol..
The Commodity Supplemental food program that cost $108 Million...for those 480,000 Seniors, Mothers and newborn Children who received an extra bag of groceries each month..has been cut out entirely..
That would save the Walton family over the next ten years $32.7 Billion Dollars...while cutting Medicaid $28 Billion over the same time frame...
The band of thieves in Washington are getting bolder..
the family of former Exxon/Mobil CEO Lee Raymond, who received a $400 million retirement package, would receive about $164 million in tax breaks
Bush's budget gets better..Cox family (Cox cable TV) receives $9.7 billion tax break while education would get $1.5 billion in cuts..

The Gang in Washington sees the end in sight...
The Mars Candy heirs.. ripped by human rights organizations for trafficking in child labor to work cocoa farms in places like Cote D'Ivoire will receive about $11.7 billion over ten years
That's more than three times the amount Bush wants to cut from the VA budget ($3.4 billion) over the same time period.
They are committed to turning the country back to the way it was..100 years ago
Budgets that Bush has sent to the hill this whole century… increase spending.. while cutting taxes and social programming…
The Ernest Gallo family receives a $468.4 million cut while LIHEAP (heating oil to poor) would get a $420 million cut over the same ten year period..
God Bless America..only in America will the majority of people let a rich minority f**K them till they drop!
Thus you're not cutting spending -- you're just cutting spending on people who actually need the money...
taxpayers pay giant subsidies to already rich energy corporations, pharmaceutical companies and defense manufacturers while cutting taxes on those who benefit from those subsidies.

Redfern--Winning is all that counts
Chris, When I ran in 06, I promised the people that we would do something about education and the cost of higher education
That's right Governor, of course you didn't give a timeframe with that promise...
no mattter who gets screwed--by any means necessary
I know that you are right politically..but something nags at me from a moral point of view..I guess it must be those years in seminary
We have a higher purpose, to deliver the state for the Democrats in '08..Solving the Ohio's problems will have to wait...besides we can't raise taxes on the rich, remember all of those $10K checks?
No matter how many promises you break to our young people or poor people that are lost in the cracks...they don't vote anyway!
You're right..focus on the big picture..the one from Pennsylvania Avenue...I guess those kids I talked to last year will get over it...what's one more broken promise these days?
You have to become more like me...if you let things like doing the right thing get in your way..you'll never be considered for VP in '08.....

Global warming in Shroomville
The idea of Global warming is way overplayed..hey Reagan was right trees create more greenhouse gases than people..besides who wants to give up their SUV?
That's right keep on living in the dark and staying dumb..that way you don't have to worry about when the lights go out..because yours went out a long time ago..
No harm in being cautious
Why should we sacrifice? I don't see why we have to cut back on driving the Hummer to the corner store..it is two blocks away..
Yeah, God forbid you walk two blocks..take that 6 ton vehicle that gets two gallons to the mile instead..
Ignorance is bliss
Do you know how much energy companies contribute to our nation's wealth each year? We owe so much to these corporations who are always thinking of new ways to use oil..
Yeah..we owe these energy corporations a lot ..they are pushing the envelope in making sure we can never save the planet from greenhouse gases..

Politicians, Posers and Hyper-Patriots
The 4th of July is coming on fast..and we will see the candidates posing for photo-ops with the flag or many flags in the background..
Yes, the candidates will be falling all over themselves..to prove that each of them is more patriotic and bigger flag lovers than the others..
For Sale: The 4th of July..
It seems that the commodification of patriotism has reached even higher levels of display since 9/11..what happened to the quiet exercise of it?
Yes, when we quietly contemplated the reasons for our freedoms and what those freedoms really are and how they should be exercised..
The Danger of an Informed Public...Real Democracy!!
One the most important being the right to assemble for the redress of grievances..and gathering in front of the people's house on the 4th to state that we have had enough is a great idea!
"W'ya" its time for you to go.."Impeach Bush and Cheney"..What better way to celebrate the 4th than to relive the spirit of 1776 and calling for the ouster of the government!

The Horror of House Bill 119
School is back in session and the politicians have froze tuition
With promise of more aid, not applied to the whole cost of education, but only to the 30% that they kick in...
The Ohio Legislature's "Catch-22"
The politicians might as well be the moon, for what they "give" with one hand, they are taking a way with the other
HB 119 sez that if a college or university does not achieve certain levels of "efficiency," they could lose their increased subsidy
Politicians can do more harm in six months than the rest of us can repair in 12!!
I wonder how long it took the pols in Columbus to come up with a plan that looks like they are increasing aid, when they are really cutting it?
we will never know, for they took most of the summer off, don't want to work too hard. We will leave that to the adjunct instructors who will pick up the load with the hiring freeze just announced,,

A light comes on in a dark corner!!
When you think that $1,188 Billion out of the $2,347 Billion to be spent in the 2008 Budget is on war related items, you have to ask, where is it going?
The easier question is where is it not going, healthcare for all, college educational grants, nutrition programs for children, mothers and seniors, and infrastructure improvements at home..
The awful truth comes out..
We have always been told that the so-called social programs are the biggest part of the budget and it is obvious that they are not, why the deception?
Well if you are going to lie, tell a big one and blame deficit spending on the poor, because it is American to blame the poor and helpless for our troubles and not the Fortune 500!!
Who is getting Screwed, the usual suspects thats all!
If we are spending 51% of our total budget on military, who is paying for it and where is the money coming from?
You are paying for it, your children and your children's children will be paying for it. Of course if push comes to shove, we can always cut medicare and medicaid too!

Starting an essay is like being in the dark.. you need to feel your way to the light
Hmmmmm...I think that I know what I want to write on, but I can't get past the introduction..
Maybe you have to do some writing on one of the points you are going to talk about in the essay??
Making it harder than it is..being human
It gets real frustrating..and it is tempting to quit and tell the instructor to shove it..Then I remember it is up to me
Sometimes..it takes thinking about the middle or the end of the essay..to get past the introduction
When you get to the end of the essay..you find that it was always on the tip of your tongue..
You think that we make this stuff harder than it is? Maybe we need to think past the topic and add or expand it to make it fun??
Once you have your thoughts and sources organized..the words will start to flow. Remember this is your work, so the style of it is your mission and yours alone..

The Gang On the Corner of High and Broad in Columbus, AKA Our Elected Representatives are a lot like those Scam Artists who sucker the Rubes out of their money
Yeah, when Joe Sixpack comes to Columbus, he gets the fast tour and the fast shuffle. Then finds himself out on the street, without his money.
These boys and girls down here play for keeps, after all they have take care of those lobbyists and consultants who make those large donations to their warchests..
When the Guv and the gang were doing the budget, Higher Ed was on their minds. They came up with a brilliant plan, cap tuition, give a small raise in funding. Then make colleges cut their costs!
I think that they brought some consultants in to help them, you know the ones, you see them on street corners asking you to pick a card
I think they brought in the ones who want you to pick the Ace.. and have three threes and the Ace up their sleeve..
Meanwhile back where the rubber hits the road, college students will have to fork out more money in 08-09, for computer lab printing, for this fee and for that fee.
Hey! did you think that Universities are here for the free exchange of ideas, to give their students a broader outlook on the World?
If you are asking, yes I did. but I forgot we are all about skillsets and providing knowledge workers who don't ask questions

Now that the master plan is close to being a reality, the University Compact, who will draw the short straw?
One thing is for sure all the big money folks over by Wooster street are burning the midnight oil to look good or at least good enough for their 6 figure salaries..
Yes, perception is important in academia as well in politics..After all is there a difference after a certain level?
Is Public Higher Education really public anymore? When tuition, fees library fines, copying and printing costs and any other thing they can squeeze out of students represent over 70% of total funding?
In the 21st Century, will higher education be the road not taken by many, simply because of the cost of it? When you look at surrounding states, Ohio tuition is the highest, why?
The 16 years of neglect by the High and Broad Street GOP Gang might be responsible, but the D's on the other side of the aisle did not do much shouting about it either..
As we finish the first decade of the 21st Century, what will be the legacy handed down to our children and their future? The end of access to education by all in Ohio, and an even wider disparity?
Will the road taken in 21st century Ohio, be the one leaving the state, not entering?
A region that was the first frontier, the first industrial power, a promoter of education and the middle class, is now the champion of the status quo, for we have leaders without courage..

Super Tuesday had a different ending than the talking heads predicted last fall, with the Democrats heading into the March round of primaries neck and neck.
When the election cycle started for the presidency, right after the 2004 election. It was a process that the talking heads controlled..
Yes, it looked like big media was going to crown the winners of both parties and then tell the American People who to vote for president..
The Primary season has thwarted the media, the pollsters and party hacks, with American people stepping in and taking charge..
From the first contest in Iowa, the people confounded the pros, and maybe this is a good sign, that "We the People" still counts for something in America..
I loved it when Obama scored the first win in Georgia, in the heart of the old confederacy, and where Max Cleland was slandered in 2002. There is hope for America..
The End of the Campaign Trail will have a new person in this house.
The Primary season will end and the main campaign will begin. My hope is that the American People are the winners..
Although, much is being made of the Race and Gender issue in this election, the history that is about to be made is extraodinary. And regardless of who wins, the people will win..

White folks in small towns aren't bitter, just paralyzed with fear.. that Jesus is really Black and that Ronald Reagan was really the devil!!!!
What was it that he said, that bothered you?
I was talking to a friend of mine about the election and he said something that bothered me..
White folks in small towns are not bitter, just small minded..
If he likes Obama's ideas, what is there not to like about Obama?
He said that he thought the ideas of Obama are good, but that there was something about him he did not like...
White folks in small towns are not bitter, just white knuckled from gripping their assault weapons
Makes you wonder what W.E.B Du Bois, Medgar Evers and Dr. King are thinking about as they look down on this crazy country, with these crazy white folks...
That Obama is Black, that is what bothers my friend has with him...Of course he also has problems with the "invasion of the Mexicans" too..

McBush accepts the blessing of John Hagee, while Barack Obama has to censure Jeremiah Wright
John McBush was smiling when John Hagee, endorsed him, Hagee who thinks Catholics are servants of the AntiChrist with 666 on their forehead...
Yeah, poor Barack Obama has a wild man for a preacher, who seems to be short a few cards in his deck and Obama has to end their 20 year friendship, Hagee and McBush are laughing it up..
When you preach hate, it helps to be white, for blacks are not allowed to talk about hate or injustice
Hagee, whose followers believe we are in the endtime, also support Israel, not because they like Jews, because they don't. But because of Revelations...
Yeah, Hagee and company can't wait for the endtimes and the killing of the Israelis by the Christians to start , like the first Crusades all over again, but with killing Jews, instead of Muslims..
when you don't have skeletons in your closet, the corporate media will make some up...
While the media are going after Obama for Wright, the former member of the SDS who is his neighbor, and not wearing a flag on his lapel. And letting Hildog beat the shit out of him for being eloquent.
McBush is sliding on questions in his past, the Keating Five, banging a lobbyist, loading his campaign with shills from the corporate sector and his votes against benefits for the Iraq war vets

Academic freedom in the post 9/11 paranoia, no such thing as friends in the Crystal Palace..
Comrade Dean, I have discovered counter-revolutionary propaganda being disseminated freely to the students. And I was outraged to find out that it was an act of copyright infringement!
What do you suggest I do about this? Especially since that is a common act in the academic world with the use of VHS copies of films and television shows in the classroom?
Whatever you do, don't speak truth to power, for it can cost funding from the Rich!!
Comrade Dean, we can make a statement with this for the perpetrator is expendable and not one of the tenured intelligentsia. Besides, I think I warned him about this on the elevator one day.
I will refer it to "She, who must be obeyed" and her Chief Prosecutor at McFall Center, and leave it to their discretion on what action to take. This person must be sent to the Gulag
Critical Thinking, Civil Disobedience, Thoreau and King are not popular at the Crystal Palace
Remember Comrade Dean, that we carry out the instructions of "She, who must be obeyed," no matter our thoughts on it are. Beside critcal thinking is really counterrevolutionary and criminal!!!
Still, I am troubled about the message we are sending here, aren't we suppose to teach students critical thinking? And is the act of using this material in a educational atmosphere, criminal?

"Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose"
We live in a world, where everything we say is observed by someone, whether it is the NSA or the BGSU IT folks..
Freedom of speech is a relative to whether one cares about those who watch and listen
Practice makes perfect, and the authorities nervous
Freedom of speech, thought and action at a University are also relative, for to have them, you must practice them openly, not from behind close doors or from cover of darkness
By speaking out loudly and often, it is those who watch and listen who will become fearful, because free people are something to fear by those who reside in the center of power
We, are our own greatest foe and the most powerful ally of those who wish for us to be silent
Questioning authority, challenging the status quo, and taking direct action are the ideals that come from learning critical thinking in a higher education setting. So what is the problem?
Complacency and the comfort zone of ivy covered walls by few and the value of a higher education is impacted by 2 to 1 ratio of adjunct to fulltime faculty. While students sink deeper in debt

They say that art is in the eye of the beholder, and it is important to insure that we have open minds to behold it..
Using "art" as an educational medium, is that a viable option?
Art has always been an educational medium, regardless of what society thinks of art or a representation of it..

The Battle of the State of Ohio's budget 2009...smoke and mirrors are back in style
Governor, what we need to discuss is a change in the way we raise revenues in this state from the last 18 years...
Don't say the T word! I promised all of my friends who wrote those big checks in 2006 for my campaign, that I would not raise their taxes..
Fair is the eye of the beholder... It don't matter if it is with a Democrat or Republican Eye in Ohio
But Governor, what about being fair to the working and middle classes of Ohio? They have being paying the bulk of tax revenues through income tax, sales taxes, and license fee increases
Well, nobody said that life is fair, that is unless you happen to be in the top 3% of Ohioans. When all of those poor Ohioans start hitting those slots, the money will roll in....
The 1st rule of being an elected Official, is get re-elected by any means necessary..
I don't think that we will raise that 993 million that is projected from the slot machines at the Horse tracks. In fact, we would have to significantly expand the availabilty of them to make that $$$
We will have to put the slots in every 7-11, after all its only fair, to allow the poor an opportunity. Hey, who plays the lottery, we will get the money from those who can least afford it..

This sets up the panel...
Then just type in the words in the dialogue box, you don't have to knock out the images

The first step is to set up the panels
If you can type and point, you can create a comix strip....
Yeah, it is pretty simple, even a college instructor can do it..
What point are you making?
The main thing is to develop the theme of the strip...what you are talking about...
And to do it in 15 words or less per dialogue or thought balloon..
After you have the idea, the rest is easy...
The great thing about this activity is that it is actually theraputic for you...outing all of that anxiety..
Yeah, I have not had to slap the crap out anyone for years because of it

Early Morning thoughts by the underclass
Another day, another dollar, and life goes on, even with Thanksgiving coming up, we have so much to think about, instead of giving thanks..
You are supposed to be "thankful" on Thanksgiving, but is hard for the working class when jobs are lost, benefits cut and yet the richest 1% are making more than ever, where is the justice?
Mike Foley and Bob Hagan sponsor HB 308 to bring fairness to Ohio's Income Tax Code
Mike, its time that some of us act like we got a pair and make those at the top pay their fair share. Reinstituting the 7.5% rate on those who make over $200,000 is the first step.
You're right Bob, placing a 8.5% tax rate on those who make $500,000 or more is also fair. If we are serious about keeping higher ed affordable and helping those who are in the bottom 3/5's.
Its time for those who have reaped the harvest of the last 19 years to start paying their fair share!
Mike, when you consider that the top 1% of Ohioans have riches greater than 15% of the entire state economy, and they have more than the bottom 50% in Ohio, it is time!
Bob, the people of Ohio have shouldered the budget burden of the rich, long enough through sales taxes, tuition and fee hikes, license fee hikes, and program cuts, it is time for tax fairness!

In order impose a new style of "educational standards," we need a crisis
The state is cutting the State Share of Instruction revenue to the University, what can be done to meet this challenge? Cut senior administrative positions?
No, this is an opportunity to impose changes on the structure of the University, we start by cutting faculty and classified staff. Then we attack those programs that have low FTE and enrollment.
With that crisis creating a "shock," the concept of higher education can be changed without any complaints.
If we cut faculty, won't that impact on our ability to provide a quality education? Along with the ideas of critical thinking and articulating those thoughts? That is why we exist as an institution?
We exist to serve an higher calling , to serve the needs of corporate America, and to not turn out thinkers but workers with the skillsets desired by the corporate community.
Disaster Capitalism," Higher Ed on the cheap, NTT Professors and Adjuncts, chained to a curriculum designed by the Trustees, turn out classes full of inarticulate automatons with skillsets.
Well, we have been successful in recreating a new type of higher education, although I have a lot of misgivings about calling it, "higher education."
We have met the challenges of the times, and the power paradigm is grateful. The impact of these changes will be felt for hundreds of years, with public universities turning profits and not ideas.

Don't ask about It, Don't tell about It, and Don't Write about It
Hello..What problem is that? Yes, what about it? I did not tell them to show me as a faculty member.. the state is cutting our budget and we cannot advocate?
Hi Pat.. I am calling you about a problem..Its that column you wrote.. You signed it as a member of the faculty..and the University does not advocate for tax increases.. no, we are not allowed..
Teach it, discuss it, but don't practice it..
Am I dreaming this, or is this a scene from the Twilight Zone? This is suppose to be higher ed, the home of critical thinking and we cannot be critical.. Someone wake me up from this nightmare..
Can you ask the paper to print that the opinion expressed by you is yours and not the University's.. Pat are you there? If you don't ask for it, I will have to send a letter stating that..
In the end, Critical thinking takes a hit..
I'll send a letter saying that it is my opinion that income taxes on the rich should be raised and not the University's.. I don't understand it but I will do it
Thanks Pat, I am glad that there is a voice out there, but it can't be the University's voice...And we can settle this so amicably

I am told that if I do not have a checking or savings account, that it could be up to two weeks before I receive my refund check.
So what do I do in the mean time for rent, and the other expenses for living?
The problem is that we are not seeing the big picture like they do in McFall
The reason that they hang onto the money, your money to the last moment, is simple interest, period.
Simple interest? What do you mean by that?
Because they are making interest on your money to the last second it stays in their accounts. It is always about the Benjamins! That is not a concern of the big picture, that is your concern.
That don't help me live while waiting for the check. I wonder how they can create rules like this without thinking about our concerns?

As the economy worsens, hours are cut, while prices rise
My boss just told that next week I am only getting 20 hours, down from 30 hours.
Yeah, My boss told me that he was going to cut my hours, right after he raised all of the prices .
What does the people between a rock and hard place do?
On the positive side, I was able to find another parttime job to make up for the ten hours that I lost. I am working 11 to 7 at the Mickey Mart.
Lets see, you are working 4 to 10 at the old job, and going to school from 8 to 3, and now you are working 11 to 7?
The good news is that there is no good news
Yeah, I am going to have make an appointment to sleep from now on, and forget having a life with the family.
It makes you wonder if the light at the end of the tunnel that we hear about is really a light, or the headlight of a train.

while Gas goes up, earnings and jobs go down
Every time, I leave the house, the price at the gas station changes..
Yeah, and while gas goes up, my hours at the shop are going down.
While we ponder about the workings of the universe, the dice are rolling.
It seems like the gas company execs get up in the morning and roll the dice to decide how much a percentage to increase gas.
I wish I could get a raise at work, based on rolling the dice, because I have a great pair that I broight back from Vegas
As the economy worsens, more shops close, less oil is being used, but gas prices increase
Its like the God of oil is in charge of the world, and we are the pawns because we live in a country that has no alternatives
yeah, we have no alternative transportation, trains, buses or alternative sources for energy. You get the feeling that the room is closing in around you, and there is no way to stop it.

What is the value of a higher education?
As I sit in class, listening the other throw five dollar words about , I wonder "is that all there is?"
Of course the $64,000 question is...
After all of the posturing and impressing the teacher, is there really a job in academia?
We all are pursuing the dream that has been dreamt for us by others, what is our real dream?
It is a matter of pushing ahead, crossing our fingers and hoping that is really a light at the end of the tunnel, not a train.

Honest People are the first Victims
The Law is to protect and serve the people
But does the "law" serve the people or the enforcers?
When has stupidity become a crime?
Laws are now created to hamstring honest people from exercising their rights..
While the same laws make criminals out of honest people, they do not impact on criminals at all
Honest People are put through the ringer and terrorized by the law enforcers
Law enforcers have become vigilantes with a badge...preying up on the innocent
You grow up respecting the law, working for the good of the people and one day you are the outlaw...why?

What is the enemy of peace in the world we live in?
Fear of the known, and the articulation of that fear causes the chaos that passes for a world society, today.
Fear caused by misinformation, and purposeful misleading discussions in the media, promotes the chaos, for in chaos there is opportunity

Justice, one of the original building blocks of our nation, has gone MIA
Since we have the word police now, how long will it be before we have the thought police?
Yes, in our post 9/11 Amerika, words can get you in trouble, thoughts will now, with the NSA, DIA, CIA, FBI, ICE and hundreds of private companies monitoring our emails, cell phones and credit cards
The difference between Vietnam and the wars we are in now, is that we have no "citizen" soldiers anymore
During the Vietnam war, there was the draft and it was a leveler of sorts and brought some form of democracy to the military. Which is exactly what the general do not want.
Yes, the it was the protests by the GI's against the war in Vietnam that the chicken hawks could not suppress or marginalized. It was these GI movement that the General staff wanted to eliminate
All Volunteer means their rights to object to a war are compromised
Early in the war, the phrase, "they volunteered," was used to discredit any thought of protest by our serving soldiers in the war. Cheney, a great draft dodger in the 60's, used this phrase early on.
The silent marches of the Vietnam Veterans against the war were a nightmare, and now the Iraq/Afghan Veterans do not have the same effect, because of that phrase

Euphemism, the new way to twist the truth
The **** county sheriff said today that due to a clerical error, a human being was arrested and jailed for no reason...
Euphemisms, the way of the bureaucrat, the politician and the professional spin master
The cover up begins when the stench of corrupt behavior is overwhelming
Oh shit, there was a mistake made and someone's rights were violated...
Well, announce that it was a clerical error, and that an investigation is being launched, and of course will not find any wrong doing by anyone.
Error and investigtion are the new words in baffling and bullshitting the people
How can the people take comfort in a system that encourages coverup and prevarication by those in power?
Like to big to fail, people like to believe in those words that convey a result , even if it never comes to anything. Perception is everything, truth means nothing..

Seeing November 2 as a Mandate, the GOP steps up the tactis of obstruction
Speaker Boehner, won't blocking the extension of unemployment hurt people in Ohio and the rest of the country?
Hah! Those folks did not vote for me or the others on the GOP ticket on November 2nd, and if they did, they are as dumb as they look. We have to cut the fat, and unemployment for those people is fat!

For some, Winter is a time of reflection
Hey Kenny, what are you thinking about?
I was thinking about how much Plato's Republic has impacted on Western Civilization...
What he is really thinking about
Hey Kenny, what are you thinking about?
Man, it is at least 90 days until good weather and I can get the "Top Banana," out!! Shit!!! It sounds like time for a road trip to warmer climes...
Deep thoughts about relevancy
Man, I did not know that you thought about philosophy..
Hehehe, the philosophy of the open road and a harley exhaust will free your mind...and your soul..for sho..
