In order impose a new style of "educational standards," we need a crisis
The state is cutting the State Share of Instruction revenue to the University, what can be done to meet this challenge? Cut senior administrative positions?
No, this is an opportunity to impose changes on the structure of the University, we start by cutting faculty and classified staff. Then we attack those programs that have low FTE and enrollment.
With that crisis creating a "shock," the concept of higher education can be changed without any complaints.
If we cut faculty, won't that impact on our ability to provide a quality education? Along with the ideas of critical thinking and articulating those thoughts? That is why we exist as an institution?
We exist to serve an higher calling , to serve the needs of corporate America, and to not turn out thinkers but workers with the skillsets desired by the corporate community.
Disaster Capitalism," Higher Ed on the cheap, NTT Professors and Adjuncts, chained to a curriculum designed by the Trustees, turn out classes full of inarticulate automatons with skillsets.
Well, we have been successful in recreating a new type of higher education, although I have a lot of misgivings about calling it, "higher education."
We have met the challenges of the times, and the power paradigm is grateful. The impact of these changes will be felt for hundreds of years, with public universities turning profits and not ideas.
