One night, Gene was studying for a French exam. Finny came and told him that Lepper was going to jump of the tree. Gen doesn't believes it, and thinks he is trying to take him out from studying.

As they walk toward the tree, Gene decides that there must never have been any rivalry between them after all. Finny proposes a double jump, Gene hostles the limb causing Finny loose his balance.

Finny's leg was shattered, noone was allowed to visit him. The next morning Dr.Stanpole tells him that he can get one visit. Finny decides Gene to visit him. After the visit, the summer session ends.
