I think it's a devious form of damage limitation.

If they tell us their comics are crap, then we can either agree with them or protest that they're actually good. If they tell us their comics are good, then we can either agree with them or laugh at them for not only being crap but for being unaware of how crap they are. The latter is obviously the result they most want to avoid.

when I first came I posted crap comics, I didn't say they were crap, and I got good feedback. I don't know how that happened.
