I read some article in a guitar magazine about a band from Finland who were at the forefront of "suicide-rock" with over 60 songs or something on offing yourself. The article justified them as explaining Finland's weather and lightcycles(they parts of the year in darkness and others in light like Alaska and Iceland).

I don't know anything about "suicide rock," but Finland is beyond a shadow of a doubt the promised land of Doom metal. I'm absolutely positive it has something to do with the fact that half the year, there is almost no sunlight... Of course that doesn't account for the other half of the year where the sun hardly ever sets. I guess that's what explains Finntroll and Moonsorrow.

I'll tell you what it's like if I decide to study there next year... that is if I don't kill myself because of the weather. :p

I'm sure I read somewhere that Sweden has Europe's highest suicide rate.
