One great freeware Tron lightcycle game is Armagetron. It is really quite pretty, rendered in full 3D with multiple layers in the sky and reflective surfaces. Lots of fun on a LAN too.

Thanks, DexX. Never heard of that one before. If you dig the Tron games, definitely check out gltron. It has tons of rendering options, arena options, and view options. I dug the game so much I went out and rented the movie, which I'm a fan of now too.

Don't download it (127MB!!!) but grab the new Red Faction demo off a magazine cover disc. It is just as much fun as we have been hoping, and the ability to blow holes in the walls, ceilings, and floors is quite simply more entertainment than mortal man deserves.

Oh, and regarding Red Faction... I like it. Not only fun, but a pretty remarkable programming achievement. Not only do explosives make big, permanent holes in the walls, floors and ceilings, but the game looks great and runs smoothly on my four year old PC with a two year mold video card. Three thumbs up!
