I meant that the Game Cube has four controller slots, which is quite a good amount. I'd say it's more of a family/party console than a kiddie console. Sure, most of the games on it are pretty safe, but they do have a wonderfully rendered version of Resident Evil on there, complete with blood, so they've realized the mistakes they made with Mortal Kombat for example.
The GC is far from the best console out there. I like the X-Box for its graphics and some of the best action games out there, but its huge, uncomfortable controllers and the general bugginess of some of the games make it less likable. It does, however, support DVD/CD playback, which is damn nice.
The PS2 on the other hand has time-tested controllers, which fit quite well into the hand. It also has some of the more popular games out there (GTA for example), and is possibly the most accesory-oriented box. The graphics from the PS2 are quite good in their own right, but when held up to the X-Box, it almost feels dated. It too has DVD/CD playback, so either one of the black boxes works pretty well.
If I were to get a console now, I might consider getting an X-Box, but I doubt that I'd play much more than Football games on it, and maybe KOTOR2 and Halo2.
If I got the PS2, I'd have to get my hands on Jak III and GTA: San Andreas. So I would say I would more likely grab the PS2, more games I want on there.
For now, I'm pretty content playing everything on my PC, but I need a new graphics card, my GeForce4 Ti 4200 just doesn't cut it anymore. I'd like one of the new GeForceFX cards, but I don't have $400 to plop down on a new card. Of course, I also need more ram (another 512 stick would be sufficient, though I would love to get a gig) and a better processor (Athlon 1800+ is a decent chip, but I need something more powerful, somewhere around 2.4ghz, to run Doom3 and Half Life 2). Computer gaming *is* expensive, but the control setup is almost always better, especially for FPS games like Halo.
