I'm pretty sure that an anagram or a palindrome has something to do with one of the rules. Wait - no, I'm not sure about that. Never mind.

Gabe, I don't know if it's Rule 1, 3, or 5, but I love it! And wirthling, you're right, it is a palindrome.

Rule #1 - IMDb... I thought maybe this was something to do with movie musicals, but after I found "State Fair" I couldn't find any others in the rule-1-compliant strips. *frown*

Rule #2 - Amtrak... Unfair! Sounds like US cities of some kind, possibly state capitals...

Rule #3 - Adjacent.com... Consultants? Wha???

Rule #4 - Periodic table... I figured this one out, but haven't mentioned it yet.

Rule #5 - Palindromes... Finally worked this one out after many hints from the participants. "Son, I am able," she said, "though you scare me." "Watch," said I. "Beloved, I said watch me scare you." "Though," said she, "Able am I, son." (From "I Palindrome I" by They Might Be Giants)

Rule #6 - Presidents... This also is unfair on this poor Aussie. *grumble*

Rule #7 - Gary Sinise from Forrest Gump... what the fuck??? (Incidentally, that page has a really obnoxious pop-up window that I found very hard to close.)

Rule #8 - Cyclops... OK, nothing about superheroes, so I am thinking this is X-related. No idea beyond that.

Rule #9 - A pink keyboard? Huh?

Rule #10 - Some obscure band called the Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies. Again - WTF???

A halfhearted comic attempt shall follow...

I still have no idea about the background or character selections, so I am taking wild guesses on those ones.

Nothing to do with movie names. But what else can you find there?

Rule #2 - Amtrak... Unfair! Sounds like US cities of some kind, possibly state capitals...
Unfair? Just wanted you to get the idea of a train in your mind. How are trains connected?

Rule #3 - Adjacent.com... Consultants? Wha???
Don't dig too much on this one. Just the name is enough.

Rule #4 - Periodic table... I figured this one out, but haven't mentioned it yet.
Golden.

Wow.

Rule #6 - Presidents... This also is unfair on this poor Aussie. *grumble*
Sorry. Next time I'll have a rule about Australian television.

Rule #7 - Gary Sinise from Forrest Gump... what the fuck??? (Incidentally, that page has a really obnoxious pop-up window that I found very hard to close.)
I thought for sure this one would jump out at you. I still think it will. Don't think too much about it.

Rule #8 - Cyclops... OK, nothing about superheroes, so I am thinking this is X-related. No idea beyond that.
Same as #7.

Rule #9 - A pink keyboard? Huh?
I didn't know it was pink. That's not important. It's a what?

Rule #10 - Some obscure band called the Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies. Again - WTF???
It's just part of their name I'm interested in.

A halfhearted comic attempt shall follow...

Sorry to make things obscure. If I just spelled them out, they wouldn't be hints, would they?

You need work on titles, characters and backgrounds. And I'm guessing at least one of the ones you got right was unintentional. But I could be wrong.

This is more for my own reference than an attempt to guess rules...

Rule #1 - I keep getting ideas, but none of them pan out. If you are using movie quotes, they are damned obscure ones. *grin*

Rule #2 - Still no idea, possibly something to do with conjunctions.

Rule #3 - Adjacency... Since I got this one right, I thought maybe it meant that the backgrounds have to all be adjacent to each other in the list, but that doesn't seem to work for all the rule-3-compliant strips. *shrug*

Rule #4 - Name an element, I think that's all it is.

Rule #5 - Include a palindrome.

Rule #6 - Include a US president.

Rule #7 - Maybe a character with no visible legs...?

Rule #8 - A character with only one visible eye, possibly? I'll have to check that one...

Rule #9 - Something keyboard-related, but still no ideas.

Rule #10 - I think I have this one - has to include an abbreviation including an apostrophe.

Still no clues about title restrictions.

The only downside to making so many complicated damn rules is trying to tell when people are adhering to them. Thus we will be revisiting Dexx's comic because I'm an eggsucking bastard and scored it incorrectly.

Humour makes the world go "Argh! The pain!" by Dexx
Follows: 4,5,6,7,8
Breaks: 1,3,10
Darn Close: 2 (66% of your comic is fine)

Able GI Soul by Smarty Pants Kaufman
Follows: 1,2,4,5,6,7,8,9,10
Breaks: 3

And current point standings...

I'm kind of fudging these, since I'm getting both verbal rule descriptions as well as comics (and even an email or two). So I'm handing out points based on the first person to make me absolutely positive they knew a given rule. Some were possible to get by mistake, so I needed confirmation you actually knew what you were talking about. So here's as it stands so far:

DexX: 2 points (rules 7,8)
Kaufman: 7 points (rules 1,2,4,5,6,9,10 with an assist by wirthling on #5)

And the rules:

#1 - Title must be an anagram of a well known actor or actress.
A Demonic Link - Nicole Kidman (Australian tie, see!)
Annoy Screen - Sean Connery
Cesium Rot - Tom Cruise (plus an element!)
Social Change - Nicholas Cage
Bestial Juror - Julia Roberts

#2 - The name of each background must begin with the letter the previous one ended with (like a train, see?)
#3 - All characters/props myst come from (at most) 3 adjacent character sets
#4 - Name an element
#5 - 1 character can only speak in palindromes
#6 - Name a US president (last name) (sorry Dexx)
#7 - In one frame no legs must be visible
#8 - Must use one character with only a single eye visible
#9 - Name a function-type key (not a letter) on your keyboard (my apoligies to any of you with weird bass-ackward keyboards that don't look like mine, but I thought they were pretty standard.
#10 - Name some sort of wheeled vehicle

Ok. That's it. We volley the moderatorship back to Senor Kaufman.
