I wish I had a real life like you so I could skip work, buzz down and hang with international film contributors. But here I sit in Seattle with two kids chained to my ankle.

Actually I love them too. I'm loving spending the summer with them. They are young and growing fast. But I gotta keep working so I can keep them in private school and maybe kick in a little for college before I retire to planned housing and a late-night job with a paper hat.

It would take an act of the gods for me to make it. I am booked solid with family. I don't even get to see my own parents more than two weeks this year.

But where else can I see this film? Are they selling copies cheap? Will it make video?

I am going to try to make it to Ohio in early December, because the island where Bunner spends his summers is having some kind of "summer's over, go away" party about then. Pita is hoping to organise all the DC guys to come up for a weekend. This would mean I would head over to Oregon around the 7th or 8th, be done there on the 12th, and be looking for somewhere else to visit.

I was hoping to kind of work my way west-to-east along the top of the US, but this weekend on the island thing has fucked that idea right off. Where the fuck is Gabe? Oregon? Nebraska? One of those heavily wooded northern states... LadyJ will probably be in Nebraska by then, so I will no doubt drop in on both of them.

There's no great rush - this is still between ten and twelve weeks away.

What's going on at the island bunner works on is that the roundy bar is having a 130th anniversary party the first weekend in October.
I was thinking we could rent a house for the whole weekend (some hold up to 8 people with 3 bedrooms, some hold 10 - 12 with 4 bedrooms) which are fairly cheap when the cost is split (like possibly $200. or less per couple for the whole weekend).
Kaufman, Wirthling, boorite, evil_d and their significant others might want to drive up from D.C. or, for that matter, whoever of the regs from wherever.
There's also the Island Grape Festival that weekend, and my very favourite local comedian, Mike Maddog Adams. The houses are near the roundy bar, and they feature full kitchens, coffemakers, a gas grill on the deck, etc. so we could save on meals.
I'm willing to organise this, maybe bunner could help me... I'd need an answer fairly soon tho, I think the houses would need to be booked way in advance.

I spoke to the owner of these houses:

And he quoted a rate of $600 for the whole weekend,
for a house with 4 bedrooms (full beds) and 2 baths, a full-size futon and full sleeper sofa in the living room.
Then there are 3-bedroom homes with 1 queen, 2 full and 2 baths that rent for $400. for the weekend.
Both have full kitchens, microwave, coffemaker, a deck with a gas grill, etc.
