You people know so much more about history than me, that whether I agree or disagree, I usually just decide to listen and learn. But a couple of comments.

I think anyone who interchanges the phrase German and Nazi is a misguided fop. Some Germans fell into the trap of Nazism (%s? No idea.), but like andydougan, I consider that a human frailty and not a German one. The human animal can be aroused to periods of great achievement or great stupidity. I don't have to look beyond the KKK or LA riots to prove the latter to myself. Unfortunately, the Nazis had both simultaneously, with technical advances such as the V1 and V2 rocket, and the blind rage to use them.
Not knowing a lot about history, I sometimes find myself in a tricky situation. On one hand, there's common knowledge that's been taught that one tends to adhere to. On the other hand, I'm of the opinion that a lot of the history taught is propaganda. History seen through a filter.
I think this may be one of the few forums where a live-wire, emotionally-rich issue like Nazism and the Holocaust can be discussed in an intelligent way, regardless of opinion, without name calling and emotional outbursts. I thank and salute you all for that.
