....sorry forgot one thing, I personally do not like Black Metal, cuz when I do read the lyrics it is a bunch of god hating bullshit. And other artists are allowed to write about something other than killing something and or one. Just because they dont doesnt make them a "poser" or "crap". Becuase I know thats how a lot of people feel these days and everything and one is worried about what and or who is punk! Im quoting someone here: "Just because someone wants to draw the line at saying this is punk this isnt punk, doesnt make it cool to write a book on punk rules" yea that is off subject but its soo true, all anybody cares abuot these days is posers and music artists being punk or not!

Yes a lot of people hate Good Charlotte and all, but to tell you the truth....YOU dont listen to anything BUT black metal!!!!! For Crying out loud, you dont even listen to the radio, because you said it sucks! I mean, yea GC sucks sorta but I still like them none the less. You dont listen to anything but that death/black metal stuff so how do you really know much about anything other than that? I mean youre not stupid or anything but theres lots more music out there and not everyones gonna agree w/ you on Black/Death metal being the best. And not every artist must write about the same stuff as other bands do.

Let's see. I can count the number of actual black and death metal albums I have without taking off my shoes. Most of the metal I have is melodic, and a good bundle of it is far from god-hating.

Bands like Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir and Borknagar are, to me, musically brilliant. Lyrically, they're at least poetic and usually fairly original.

I prefer somewhat positive metal, stuff like power and heavy metal, but I am at heart a little self-hating goth boy, and thus I like a good amount of gothic metal bands like Tristania, Theatre of Tragedy, Moonspell, and Type-O-Negative. The latter makes me laugh at myself, and even more at people who really take being ohsogoth seriously.

Sure, there's other music out there, and I own some of it, but I'm a metalhead in the end. I have two They Might Be Giants albums, a couple of classical CDs (I need more, but I don't have a speaker system in my car for that, they rattle too much), and even a Johnny Cash CD buried away somewhere.

We all gravitate towards the music that clicks with us best, and for me it's metal. There's so much variety in metal, I'll be buying albums for years before I've heard even a taste of what's out there.

That said, I'm one of those weirdos who strongly believes that the punk music of today is not punk, because punk was a sociological concept and not a musical style. I think the spirit of punk lived through post-punk, early American hardcore, thrash metal, and the C86 scene. It's currently in hibernation, but may pop out any day now. Good Charlotte is not punk. They play music inspired by bands who were punk, but they are not punk.

I don't know if that makes any sense at all, but...

It's not just punk. All music sucks now. The only band from the past 7 years that i can even stomach listening to is Amazing Transparent Man. And that's just sad. Pull yourself together, music. If you don't I won't be your friend anymore.

Cradle of Filth and Dimmu Borgir are way way overrated.Dani is a fucking anoying little git. Listen to Emperor for some really good Back Metal and to Blind Guardian or Rage for "Proper use of orchestra in a metal band"
Type of Negative are good, and Moonspeell pretty much has the coolest singer of all times.
Oh, and Testament rules the world.
Simple rule of Metal:
Do the riffs.Refer to Painkiller for proper use of thereoff.
Nobody likes sugar coated "Im mean and grim and necro frostbitten" wankery
