I found at that an EMT-related class that I attended yesterday and thought was a one-day deal is actually going to require me to attend next Saturday as well. I am not sure how long it will take, so maybe we should plan our get-together for late Saturday afternoon. Or if you all wanted to meet earlier and hang out for a while, I could just join up with you later when I become available.

Okay, about that Yahoo! voice chat...

It works very nicely on a dial-up connection (I used to access it with my crusty old 33.6Kb/s modem) so you don't have to worry about that. All you need are: a sound card; speakers; and a microphone. All three need to be plugged in and working, of course.

To access the voice chat you need to get Yahoo! Messenger here. You grab a 200KB-ish intaller, and the whole program is something like 5MB or so. Set up your account, log in, and you're ready to go.

What I would like to do is organise a whole day during which people can come and go, including myself. I will set up a room, probably invitation-only to keep the dickheads out. If we can get a list of people who will be coming along, we can list all of our Yahoo! screen names (mine is mcdexx, incidentally - some bastard stole dexx) and that way it should be easy for people to message moderators and get invited in.

If you want to join in, download and install Yahoo! Messenger, and add me to your "buddy list". if I'm online, we can have a two-way voice chat to make sure it's all working correctly before the big chat.

Come on, join in, make jokes about how I sound like Crocodile Dundee and Steve Irwin...

Well, Gabe and I are gathering ourselves and possibly fishoutofbeer for a Thursday afternoon fete at the bar in the basement across from Halethorpe rail station, next to the all night porn store. Looks like Wirthling won't make it, and I'm gonna miss you all on Saturday, as I'll be soaking up some Arizona rays and possibly developing skin cancer. Anyway, we'll be there from 4ish to as late as 7ish, when my lease on humanity expires and I transform back into my animal form (marmot, if you must know).

Directions, in case you decide to go: I-95 N to Baltimore, take the BWI airport exit (I-195), follow it right to the Hwy 1 exit. At the end of the ramp, go left toward Halethorpe and Arbutus. Go past the big red brick buildings on the right (Seagram's plant) and take the first right-hand exit, which will shoot you down alt. rt. 1. Very soon, you'll see the entrance to the MARC station on your right and a bar called Shuffles on your left. In addition, there is a porn store. If you see a big sign that says BINGO on your left, you've gone too far (which I think should be a general rule in life).

If you feel good about the traffic on the DC Beltway, then go down 95 to 495, west on 495, take exit 34 onto Rockville Pike and head north until you see the White Flint mall on your right. This is the way Mapquest will tell you to go.

Alternately, get off 95 at the exit for MD-212 West to Calverton (exit 29B). Merge onto MD-212 (Powder Mill Rd.) and go straight until you reach Cherry Hill Rd. (this will only take a couple of minutes). Turn right onto Cherry Hill. After about five minutes you'll cross US-29 (you could also just come down 29 if that's easier), whereupon Cherry Hill will become Randolph Rd. Keep going straight for another 20 - 25 minutes until you reach Rockville Pike. Turn left onto it and start looking for White Flint on your left (again, shouldn't be more than a few minutes). If you take this route, I advise against speeding while on Randolph Rd.

Kaufman or boorite probably know the area better than I; so hopefully they'll spot it if I'm steering you wrong.

Another way to Rockville Pike involves taking 216 through Scaggsville and then left at High's Dairy Store down Lime Kiln Road, then another left at the end of that (Brown's Bridge Road, I think). Puts you going more or less straight toward the Pike, where you'll turn left and head down to White Flint. Come to think of it, that's a crappy way to go. Too much Rockville Pike.

I have had a team of archaeologists, theological scholars, theoretical physicists, and Denny's waitresses trying to decipher the meaning of that statement, and their latest theory is that you thought I was talking about Thursday.

I still don't know my status for Thursday night. So far, I haven't been able to get anyone to call me back who could help me get what I need to take the test. If I don't take the test, I may try to swing by Shuffles by 6:30 so I can at least meet you and fishoutofbeer.

On Saturday, I definitely have a class in the morning but I don't know how long it will take. I think I have to successfully drive an ambulance through a driving course and then I can leave, but they might make me stick around. (They're like that.) These classes usually don't go past 3pm, though, so I am fairly sure I can make it to D&B's by 4 at the latest on Saturday.

I hope everyone is taking notes.
