Crikey, this is amazing.
Dougan is right. Law did not molest any children himself, he merely moved around a bunch of molesting priests.
chaodwarrior is right in his assessment of the responsibility of the HEAD of an organization to handle a widespread problem.
He also mentioned first-time offenses. I agree there, too. We aren't speaking of an isolated incident.
There are many reasons NOT to fuck the Pope. One being that he is dead, and I haven't had the urge to do something like that since the end of WWII. Two is that he was really old, and I'm not comfortable inserting my genitalia into an orifice that is classically wrinkled in even the halest specimen. Third is that I don't fuck guys in the ass.
I said Fuck The Pope, which was my statement, which is what I'm still defending, apparently. I still say Fuck The Pope. I'm not saying everything else he did is illegitimate, I'm saying that there seems to be one rather glaring fuck-up in his career. I am not saying the Church went and said it was okay for priests to touch kids, either.
The pope being responsible for child molesters is nowhere near the same as a smoking gun. Why? Well, let's use the example of the smoking gun. People use guns to kill other people, right? Well, if it's used for its purpose, then there is nothing you can say against its manufacturer. That's the product, that's what it's for. If the guns keep backfiring on people and killing or injuring the people who USE them, then the gun company is absolutely responsible for getting those damn guns off the market.
I never said the Pope was King Child Molester Numero Uno. I said that as the head of an organization that seems to be PEPPERED LIBERALLY with kid-touchers, the motherfucker shoulda done something. And I think that his inaction is serious enough to warrant a big, fat FUCK DA POPE.
