As many of you know, Doonsberry has taken a turn for the serious this past week. The long-standing political comic decided to tackle the issue of the wounded in Iraq. B.D. lost a leg. Get Fuzzy also decided to confront this situation. Rob's cousin lost a leg in Iraq.

All I gotta say is that I'm glad that people are talking about this publicly. My cousin lost his arm and most of his hearing in Iraq(he's 24).

And besides, today's Doonsberry was friggin' hilarious.

Doctor:"Most amputees experience denial, then trauma-"
B.D.:"Son of a BITCH!!!"
Doctor:"Sometimes they skip the denial phase."

The Guardian had an article on that strip, it was a good issue to tackle.

Also, nsusaint brought to my attention that Pat Tillman, a promising young linebacker who had been offered an NFL contract was killed today in Afghanistan. It brings it home even more when a celebrity or someone you know is involved.

My mom was actually crying on Wednesday, where they actually picture B.D. legless. She's been reading the strip for as long as it's been around, and B.D. is one of her favorite characters. It's similar to many Doonsberry fans; they feel that B.D. losing a leg was like a very good friend losing a leg.

All I hope is that the Bush administration does something now. I mean, we've had so many casualties in the last week. Somewhere around 70 people killed in a bomb Wednesday? I really hope we get out soon...
