I'm looking for a decent free ISP. I've tried NetZero but their damn pop up banner pisses me off to high hell.

About a year ago I was on freewwweb, which was just heavenly. They had no cost, no banners, and no pop-up bullshit. Beautiful. Unfortunately, they were taken over by Juno and the typical pop-up crap came with the takeover.

Anyone know some good free ISPs? I'm running a search on google. Just wondering if anyone knew some offhand.

Thanks.

Oh.

Sorry.

I'm basically web illiterate so bare with me. Hosting?

I'm looking for an ISP that is both free and without banners. Not for a webpage or anything, just for internet access.

There's Freeserve, but I suspect they don't cater for non-UK customers. Not that they're much good anyway.

And theyre not very Free anyway.

Bear in mind Andy , US "Free" ISP's are actually free cos local calls cost Fuck all.

Over here , Freeserve should be renamed "LocalRatePosingAsFreeServe".

And im SOOOOOOOOOOOO tempted to hassle you for web hosting Boorite , but i shall wait until i actually have something worth putting up , and a domain name would probably be a good start as well.

Freeserve also offers a service which involves you paying £10 a month for unlimited access, no call charges (the service I use, for my sins).

Freeserves 24/7 package is £14.99 a month isnt it?

Im pretty sure it is , because they use the BT package and just cream some off the top for themselves.

I used to use "TheFreeInternet". £50 for a year. But when they tripled their prices , and then the service went down for 4 months so they could stay within budget , i figured it was time to move on.

Ill be getting Cable or ADSL , whichever Manx Telecom offers , when i get to the Isle of Man.

Sadly, free ISP's are ass. NetZero also started a billing rate for minutes over some titties-on-a-trout-level-of-no-use-whatsoever amount. K-Mart was doing a free ISP, but it went blooey....

There really isn't a true free ISP left.

On the upside: with cable going for 49.95 a month, crap dial-ups for $10.00 a month are everywhere.

Thanks for the offer to host, boo. I can't use it, but it's still damn cool of you. You're now in my will for the 12lb (currently) ball of ear wax.

Damn, that's what I was afraid of. I've seen some cool ones where you just fill out a survey once a month and get free no-banner internet connectivity, but none I've found are in Phoenix.

So if I'm not around for a month or so sometime, don't think I've quit, or died, or lost the use of my upper torso. I'm just poor.

Wow... that means that cable is cheaper in Australia than in the US. How bizarre. We are paying between $au60 and $au85 per month ($us30/42.50), after a fuck-off-huge signup fee. ADSL is around the top range of that, too. We will be getting cable within the next month or two. We would have it right now, but our darling angel landlord has given us 90 days to get out of the house, after we were rude anough to ask for some repairs to be done to the property. The transfer fee is pretty steep, so we are just going to wait until we get into a new place.

When I was living in Pennsylvania, I was getting broadband for $20 a month for three months with no charge for the cable modem. (Introductory student offer.) The company I got it through (@home) was having so many connection problems that they gave every customer a $40 credit. So, in reality, I got 3 months for $6.67 a month.

Dig it.

Oh. That explains why @home tanked a few weeks ago.

Actually, it was my doing, but for a different reason. A couple of months ago, I got an error message that said:

Excessive Porn Windows Open. Divide by Zero Error. Initializing @homeDefunct Program.
