Here's the thing about editing comics:
When you delete comics, it doesn't actually delete them, it just makes them invisible. I eventually can them after they've been sitting around for a long time.
This is so that if anyone hacks your account, you can email me within a couple of weeks and go "Ahh! My stupid roommate/girlfriend/boyfriend/coworker/parent deleted all my comics! I'll give you a billion dollars to get them back! They were so brilliant!" Then I can just undelete them and earn a cool billion dollars.
Editing would be permanent. I don't want to get into dealing with saving multiple copies of a comic strip for every time you make a change. If your account was hacked, people could ransack your comics and no matter the amount of money you offered me, I couldn't get them back.
I guess it basically depends on whether it's worth the risk to have a destructive feature kicking around. Both for the users and for me as the guy who will get complained at every time some retarded and totally preventable thing goes wrong.
So far nobody has complained about their comics having been maliciously deleted, but I assume it's just a matter of time.
