on the donors forum, you'll find the quality strips. donors are an elite. you could be one of them.
why should i even try? i'm so inadequate
because angsty artists types get laid occasionally, by people who should know better?
it's just a thought, brad.
coincidentally, my neighbor is talking about how she can't get paypal to work.
for millions, amazon and www.e-gold.com offer an alternative to the paypal monopoly

experiencing existential difficulties
Sigh. I don't feel inspired. for the first time, knocking one of these out feels like work instead of play. the color looks alittle off too, maybe the bright on the monitor is turned up.
he spent some time offline this morning and knocked out a simple memo. more things dont get done than get done.
i told my story, in a memo of a statement of facts re count 1. it was draining.
everyday the paperboy (mailman- letter carrier) brings more.

1. gencom is coming to town. if i'm a good boy and get my homework done, i can go. www.gencon.com
Every day, three good things happen. you might have to look real hard to find them.
we had a lot of fun with chris online, and chris came by, and our hilljack pal called from arkansas.
2. i've been flirting with some cute young myspace men about making movies, a dream goal of mine. women too! the aardvark persona seems to help.
sure it's easy to accentuatenegative ity, focus on the bad
like the dogshit, the roaches, the bills, the lack of hot water. to name a few.
i remembered to thank that cute dentist who helped me. to everybody who has helped me, thanks.
the monitor acting up, the viruses we found, the ....
happy thoughts! happy thoughts dammit!

i get some positive feedback. it makes me happy. finally somebody who gets my jokes. thanks chris.
works O YES I love it lOL
the tech guy spent 2 hours not getting the webcam to work. at one point the computer was broken. it's fixed now.
my roommate's off at gencon. i plan to go soon myself. still need to get some work done first
why wont it boot up? why?
chris is gonna make a web page we can post videos at. i did some work on the memo this morning, then wasted the day at myspace again
as deadlines approach, aardvarks feel creative stress
random comments from interesting people keep myspace hopping. the richly textured social fabric helps against social isolation
i called about a job, got a brush-off. sorted paperwork into folders, but couldn't make any progress on my to-do lists. not getting them done, just making the list.

join our campaign to bring wil wheaton to gencon
gencon had it highs and lows. in traditional fashion, i haven't slept yet.
yesterday morning, crying while doing the dishes. the depression's pretty bad lately. but star wars previews, kung fu movies, anime and pinkball were fun.
my roommate, joell palmer, was a big hit with his foam weapons workshop.
I enjoyed seeing iron monkey again, and shaolin soccer was everything i heard it would be.
it can be lonely in crowd of 40000 geeks.
lots of cute people. some product placement.
i wanted to dash off a quick comic, and then see if any pics turned out.
www.hash.com has software that may someday animate the arbitrary aardvark. look out world. mr and mrs hash were nice too.

did list:
mowed the lawn. lost the gas cap. took the dogs for a walk. drafted a leter re deeds. that's 3 things. made roommate clean up dogshit again. found some free stuff.
heating water for bath then sleep. gencon expenses: $4.
didn't list
the memo isn't done. i haven't slept. i can't find the green folder for the lilly study.
he hasn't finished the comic.
could still do today: use coupon. edit memo draft. mostly wasted last 10 days. need to prepare agenda for meeting. need ot set alarl. 7:30 appointment. nooed to prepare a weekly summary did list.

bigger.. bigger..keep going....
Is it bigger than a breadbox? www.20q.net or possibly .com
Bigger than Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith?
hmm, hard to compare apples and volcanos
Bigger than your mama's [insert punchline variable string]?
Bigger than john kerry's ego, his wife's purse, or W's dry-drunk arrogance?

we are so happy to have our first fan. he knows who is. if anyone else reads this, say hi.
did list: on time for both meetings. made $40, spent $7. 3 hour session w/ lawyer. did some chores. got access to computers downtown.
checked email. got dressed. took out trash. ate well-rounded breakfast (bagel). had fun at antique mall, myspace.
sale: donate in the name of this comic, at least $1, get reprint rights to that month, a $20 value.
didn't list: didn't do memo, went with "rambling notes instead of a memo." didn't hit on the cute asian raver at the library - that's a plus. did hit on the asian raver on myspace - that's a plus too
didn't pay bills, write letters, discuss deed, fix the computer, fix the pipes, get a job, take a bath, maintain even mood.
This space for rent.
to do: the memo, and the motion based on the memo. documents to state supreme court. deed. bomb the roaches. discuss chores w roommate. prioritize list. walk dogs. play with myfriends. maybe coffee.
write mom, uncle, call ex, set up new computer, take pix, get hub, make budget notes, commission memo, election meeting thursday. debrief today's meeting. bath. laundry. get some sleep.

today's strip is sponsored by mile high comics, the web's biggest comic book store. when i lived in boulder, i used to buy analog and galaxy pulps for a dime each, there.
i'm very tired, but i promised myself i'd make a comic before going back to bed.
that doesn't mean he's thought of anything to say yet
an hour later...
ZZZZ
psst! wake up you idiot. we're on!
arbi's myspace blog 8/25/04 has more on this. http://profiles.myspace.com/users/5060901
oh! ahem. www.heinleinsociety.org has newly published letters by john w campbell, and a review of tramp royale.
what's that, like a tramp with extra cheese?

8-25-04
no punchlines here folks. move along.
did list: got the gate thingy so roommate can fix it so the dogs can go in the back yard. made a comic. wrote a good blog entry. called to stop the newspaper, since i don't read it. went back to bed.
yesterday, wrote deed draft, some other letter, hung up some clothes, rearranged computers. ran de-net-bugger
vote badnarik, or stay home.
didn't: write a to-do list. call ex or write mom. didn't drop off paperwork in support of motion. didn't write down all this stuff in my head about memo three.
didn't get the deed paperwork. didn't email for sister's new address. didn't clean room. didn't get the hub. didn't bomb the roaches or get an exorcist re the vampires. didn't pay bills.
eureka. but will i remember when i wake up?
just had a great idea for the next memo! could be a winning game plan. worth a shot. woot!
to-do. sleep. outline memo. write to mom. do monthly budget summary. do laundry. maybe call ex. think about why so averse to calls. mediation or prayer. tease chris. catch up blogs. make action plans.

any day when somebody comes over to play with my teddy bears is a good day.
did: called about a job, a friend came over and helped fix the tv/vcr, i cleaned my room a little, started a letter to mom, took a bath, put the bike in basement, still have time to go
to the hardware store if i hurry. feel good. got the cam working again. gave away a box of teddy bears. kept the one that talks.
i hope i didn't screw it up by hitting on her, gently.
didn't: write checks, mail letters, work on memo, have any billable minutes, mop the floor, buy the gas cap yet. didn't go to the election commission meeting.
she felt there was an age difference. she's 20. we had coffee and rice. she likes hers hot and sweet.
hey i'm 22... in aardvark years
... on mars.

space for rent
today i got a job offer. $7 hr. 50/hrs week. hard work, noisy, dirty, scary coworkers, heavy machinery, walking distance of home. it's what i said i wanted (but at $10/hr)
he hates it already. the lilly thing better work.
what else: nice lady having twins. lots myspace messages. cam seems to work if i had lighting for webcamming.
this gives me about a month to find something better. i'm trying to get the roommate on there. it would be revenge.
if he did it for a year, that would pay the lawyer bill. yuck.
no progress on memo. time short.
the sweet luxury of maybe turning down a job
or, might take it, see if can hack it

8-28-04
wanted: place to host our movie development page
produced by: arbitrary aardvark
directed by cowboy
wanted: people, equipment, ideas
join our soon to be formed myspace group
just kicking ideas around right now
executive producer: anyone with $1000 for equipment
starring oswald the unlucky rabbit

by arbi
8-28-04
http://groups.myspace.com/ LOWRENTCRAPPYMOVIES
did: thanks to the cowboy, we have 8 members already, some new faces. i wrote a bunch instead of getting my chores done.
touched base with some old chat buddies, got two of them on myspace and in the movies group.
pretty clearly, i am avoiding the memo because it is stressful.
didn't: i have laundry sorted in two piles but didnt get out to the laundromat before dark. didn't mail the rent check or the bills, not sure i've eaten today, i did take a bath and felt good today.
the most important thing not done is the memo. time gets short for that. i will have a short strategy letter and maybe an outline of a memo.
the roommate applied for a job today, or left to do so. still wrestling with that.
can i go back to sleep now? i cleaned the fridge, washed the dishes, can i watch kung fu now?
2 emails to send, the laundry could wait til tomorrow. run viruscheck and spybot

we wanted to welcome our newest sponor, q television network, available by subscription in a few major cable markets
we apologize for the lack of a strip today. we were at iupui library on a mac, and forgot to log in, and hit the wrong button, and it wouldn't accept cookies...
for some reason there are people in my living room watching tv.
finaly got back home, long after dark. took bus 10, walked the rest of the way
no driver's license, and for the study, can't ride the bike.
i should be happy there's company, but i hate television.

by arbi
8-31-04
three nice supportive notes at myspace, and sent a few.
the strange thing about today was i was so busy this morning the depression didn't hit me till afternoon. i was almost crying at the public library computer.
did: dr's appointment, court, made resume, filled out job app, made agenda for lawyers meeting, but really didn't do much, wasted the day at myspace.
it looks like the lilly study is a go. i could get a photo ID at walmart or just make one.
did: asked the roommate if he could leave in a week. he didn't have the rent. i think i made this strip earlier didn't i?
these comics have always been more dry than funny, but lately they don't even shoot for a punchline
the lawyer has a job lined up for me at a "no-kill" puppy shelter but our guess is it isn't vegan.
they just sort of
trail off

new series: irony of the day
see, back a year ago my wallet was stolen so i went in to get my drivers license replaced. but without a birth certificate, you can't get a driver's license, and without a driver's license,
you can't get a birth certificate. this is how we fight the terrorrists.
without a license, i haven't been able to get into bars, concerts, fly, and even greyhound was a hassle. this is what gilmore v ashcroft is about. www.eff.org. not to mention a job.
so for pocket money i was going to do this lilly study, but they wanted ID. today we negotiated, and they will accept a sam's club card, or maybe i will just make an ID on my computer and laminate it.
the purpose of the ID requirement is so that the homeless aren't exploited. if i do the study, i can pay my rent.
if my roommate had done the study like i suggested, i wouldn't be kicking him out over the rent. i would need some other excuse.

step 5 get job history thingy 6 make appointment at wishard.
Things are going badly on the home front. Roommate won't leave, won't pay rent or clean up the dogshit, so naturally everyone is siding with him against me.
looking into going on disability. Apparently it takes years, but would pay $600/mo, so might be worth looking into, as a way to slowly recoup some of what they have stolen from me. Humiliating though
step 3 bus to walmart ID light bulbs roach stuff step 4 bank
I guess the plan for today is walmart and the bank, which means i need to get up, so i'm drinking coffee. might do some shopping while i'm out there trying to get ID.
plan for tonight, go by the old place and look for paperwork, something i've been avoiding.
step 1 coffee, mail, coffee step 2 memo
plan for right now, sort bills, mail letter to mom, email z., write memo re properties.
drink way too much coffee...

did:
i got my driver's license reinstated, am getting the car worked on, got a job, wrote letters to mom and my ex, sorted out a problem at the bank bought some books, got back online.
didn't:
didn't totally lose it at the BMV, but it was close.
spent: $44 bmv $15 bookstore $20 mechanic. $79. got some free tshirts. very tired now. just wanted to check in.

today's strip was slightly delayed while we checked out www.wigu.com. trippy.
today i woke up, did the dishes, am doing laundry, wrestled with the angst monsters, havested the garden, talked to neighbors and friends, put the dishes away, swept the floor, wasted time online.
at this rate the house could be clean by 6/2005.
this strip not sponsored by ups.com.
in last week's exciting episode, i thought i had a job. got there, no job. dude was nice about it, job will be there in january or whenever i get my record cleared.
bought some pliers, fixed the bike, rode 15 miles home, and stayed cheerful about the whole thing.
sponsored by www.offkilter.net, the official canadian pavillion disneyworld bagpipe band.
on the way home i fed ducks, saw a racoon, a bunny, and 400 drunk frat boys in broad ripple. for a few minutes, i was one of them.
stayed in bed saturday, missing an irish fest featuring off kilter. sunday was laundry and not much else. harvested the garden.

Someday we'll have a punchline for this panel.
?
stuff to do this week: net access for house, clean house once pat's gone, spray for bugs, try to fix leak, make better to do list, dentist appointment, doctor appointments, outline memos.
?
make list of job possibilities, mail kaplan app, make lbj notes, make better to do list, go over old lists, come up with a punchline, write to adam, outline letters in support. once car ok, get food.
?
make christmas card list. make reasonable doubt list. work on jailblog. try to find social things to do, hit on lil blue elf boys, 18+. join the gym? get insurance, look for a realtor, check for ID

now to get cable modem and i'd be set. and a computer, but i have an angle on that.
today, the electric was turned off, which was actually a good thing. it'll be back on in my name shortly, and the gas too.
finally hot bath!
did today: swept mopped rode bike with turtle's kid. emailed z.
tomorrow: check for chuck, dentist appointment, wishard appoitnment, make better to do list outline memos.
the things we didn't do today.. stayed in bed.
didn't: get high, when tim offered. didn't go get drunk at club. didn't do the things on the list, or make a better list.
started to feel depressed again off and on. being online helps.
right now will take aspirin for toothache.

did this week: not much. read some books mostly. tired to make dentist appointment. dr's appointment a month away. piad taxes on house. send chuck check. talked to landlord. made to do list.
ordered checks. that was about it. tried to see if printer works cleaned house. made house messy again. washed, shaved ate, bought food. ex called. started some letters.
didn't: do memo, apply for any jobs, email adam or mike, make any money, start lbjblog, take any notes on readings, mail letters to mom or ex.
there are 34 items on my newest to do list. i can set a goal of doing at least 5 this week.
need to re-write the list based on priority and which to do first.

we'd like to welcome our first recruit to stripcreator. emokid has invented the adventures of chop suey and jack. here's jack now.

the bank made money on their bloomington gig, sold some cd's, got laid.
um 'chop suey'?
it's a postmodern tip of the hat to cultural stereotypes. but don't tell him, ok?
not bad for first world tour.. of indiana

and you got the gig cuz i introduced you to megan on myspace.com?

cameron, pretending to be chris
i just got boinked by this t-rex
(in this panel the part of the aardvark is played by blue. cam, still pretending to be chris, is played by red)
(suspiciously) turn on your web cam
i have a heart on!
one of the drawbacks of stripcreator is it's not too good at depicting spankings. i'd have to be crazy to save this one. once saved, it can't be unsaved. like a baptist.
memo to chris: give cameron a good spanking and send me the video
um, it's broken?

by arbi
10-13-04
the day seemed like it was going well, but mostly it wasn't.
yesterday i got my title and plates, bought this computer, went to a job interview, got some groceries, installed firefox.
didn't get the job. didn't remember to go to court.
today wasn't so bad. i'm calmer than i've been, aside from one freak out at the lawyer's office. i handled it ok. i was too nervous last night at the job interview tho, kinda blew it.
today i met w the lawyer, fixed the court thing, went to the library, bought a book, bought some groceries, finally got stripcreator working again.
didn't pay the rent yet, didn't take a bath yet, off to do that next.
all in all it's good to be back. now that i'm online again, i think i can make it through the winter.
today i'm mostly touching base with some of the places i like to go online. so far just play, no work yet. but i have the tools now to work when i'm ready, i think. gotta learn openoffice.
scored some whipped cream to go with hot cocoa, and a bath and a good book.

thursday: did nothing all day. friday: did nothing all day. answered the phone, may have sold a property.
so the credit card could get paid off, that's been a big worry for years.

it's been months since i've had a strip with a punchline. none this time either.

another whiny did/didn't list.
did: monday was busy, went to meetings, got food, got wet in the rain. bought gas. trying to get a real estate deal happening.
it turns out i still have one fan who reads these so i haveta :) keep making them. overall my energy levels are low and i don't do much online or offline.
today's strip sponsored by www.penguinbros.com
tuesday: nothing. answered the phone to make dentist appointment. (i have chronic pain from toothache, and get teeth removed every so often.) wednesday: nothing. plan for thursday: one appointment.
i spend a lot of time in my head worrying about stuff, that i don't end up writing down or doing anything about. i have a few online chat buddies and otherwise no one to talk to, i feel alone; i am.
technically i think he's in the part of the netherlands that isn't holland. americans tend to be vague about that.
plan for today: drink coffee. read a book. that's basicly the plan for all winter. keeps the overhead low. $20 in books lasts me a month. i'm worried i might get bored with them at some point.
my one fan, he's young, cute, sweet, straight, but in holland, which is too far for a road trip.

the firefox as popup blocker tip was from www.wilwheaton.net - he's "just a geek"
So i've installed firefox on my new p2 and have no more pop-up problem. the p2 was $100, $106 with tax, which might be a little high but was convenient.
firefox is fine, but openoffice so far is a pain in the neck - the p2 didn't have word installed, which is unusual. i don't have a tech guy handy to see if i can move word or wordperfect from box1.
the transition to open source is underway, but not there yet.
generally i'm all in favor of the move to cheap boxes with open source standards. but i'm still using win98; so far i haven't seen an open source front end for linux with ease of use and easy install.
open source systems that you have to be a geek to use aren't the answer. i need something a 5 year old can use.
next step: plug in webcam.
i eventually got a speaker plugged in and was able to listen to wil's audioblog - turns out he's only had one new one in 6 months.
a $106 p2 is like the "new" car, a $500 1990 plymouth sundance (sunbird? sunfish? if it's a sundance, we can name it butch.)

while i ponder this, i'll fix the ramen i had left over from last night, for lunch. i need to eat something now and then, but i forget to. it's chili shrimp flavor, not quite vegetarian.
it's late october. i'm in a new house. so the question is, do i buy halloween stuff or not? i never know if there will be trick or treaters or not
see, the 'vark lives in the ghetto, where there's real scary stuff, so no need to pretend.
but a block away there's families with kids, so maybe they will come by seeking treats, so i should have something besides ramen.
chopsticks and fortune cookies might be a good choice. it's an excuse to go shopping again between then and now.
one more thing for the to-do list. then, if no kids come, i'll have chopsticks and fortune cookies. i try not to get candy. maybe i can find my box of toys someplace. probably at the other house - i..
... went there recently and it was genuinely scary, a depressing unlived in mess.

tonight's sponsor ballots.blogspot.com
did: i caught up my blogs a bit. a blog post of mine got picked up by one of the leading blogs, a story about a banned radio ad in illinois
i'm not sure why we're backwards tonight, just a little change of pace.
3 phone calls. my ekg turned out to be normal; i had to look up "bradycardia"
did: i caught up my blogs a bit. a blog post of mine got picked up by one of the leading blogs, a story about a banned radio ad in illinois
well i screwed that up, i hit clone panel instead of save.

two meetings went well today. i'll be seeing the dentist tomorrow just in time. i used my new pressure cooker to make beans and curried rice. i feel tired, probably not sleeping well. i don't watch tv
.. read the paper, or often leave the house. friday
i took a walk to the thrift store just to get out of the house, didn't buy the toaster i came for but got a pressure cooker and memoirs of john kenneth galbraith
which is alot better than expected, dry canadian scotch humor.
now i could either go out to the club cuz it's monday night, or stay in and read the galbraith. i'm pretty sure i know which one is gonna win.
the path of least resistance.. stay home.

i was running late because i'd been reading faferd and the grey mouser and lost track of time
I closed a real estate deal that will pay the rent for the year, semi-justifying my current joblessness. The buyer was cool, the lawyer was cool, the prorated taxes took a bite more than I hoped
made a wrong turn onto 70 instead of 65, so i was even later than expected.
yesterday i had two teeth pulled. $84. more pain today for less pain tomorrow.
i was an hour late to the dr appointment. $60 copay, back in the system, no meds, but i'll get to see another doctor in a month or so.
gave some extra pizza to some homeless guys, had some good coffee
tonight i might go out, either to get the vicodin for the teeth, or to have a drink to celebrate, but preferably not both.
put the money in the bank, wandered around downtown aimlessly, ran out of time on the meter so i went home, where i am blogging, reading blogs, reading books,
... stomping on roaches.

it might not have been a rat after all. i definately have a mouse. either i have a loud mouse, or maybe a cat got in through the basement. i saw one looking guilty,
, like a cat burglar.
how do you tell if there's an elephant in your refridgerator?
footprints in the peanut butter!
i don't keep peanut butter in the fridge. i buy it for mousebait, but then end up eating it.
i'm booker t washington, and i approved this comic.

this toon illustrates something somewhere and otherwise won't make sense, so just go on to the next one.

i voted for the underdogs. most of them lost. county treasurer and surveyor, where i voted D, were the only ones that won.
been following the news blogs religiously as votes get counted
the votes should be in in a month or two.. still counting in washington state.
in indiana there was a one incumbent congresscritter who lost, about 7 out of 435 nationally mostly from redistricting in texas, which the supreme court is iffy about
it was a good excuse to do nothing all week. i can already tell my new roommates won't work out. too much drama. but it was a good excuse to clean a little.

i don't even want to get into how horrible today's exciting BMV episode was. so let's talk about the new roommates.
thing have been going better, after a recent night of drunkness, job loss and bickering
one night we played monopoly, the next night night they cleaned the fridge and washed the dishes and made stew
i was hearing the noises of vegetables being chopped, until it occured to me those noises been going on a long time now
i think i'll go see what's going on

well, there was no one in kitchen chopping veggies. i seem to be alone. i don't know what the noise was.
i didn't look in the basement, and i'm not gonna answer the phone.
i guess i'll go back to reading my boring book by dan quayle. nothing else happens in this strip. it's not building suspense. it's just that nothing happened.
not a punchline, more of an afterthought.
well, i put some red curry in it and reheated the stew.

ok, i hear kitchen noises again, i think they'd just stepped out for a smoke when i went down there before.
had thought of another comic, but now forgotten again
oh yeah! so i got my chore done, so i can go out tonight. since it's tuesday, that would be irish music night at the local pub or kareoke downtown, or i could try my new ID to go to clubs that usually
don't let me in, but on a tuesday why bother?
or i could stay home and read, like every other night.
