Here is the forum for CC 230 fighting. Have fun, and I'll weigh in in a bit...

In fact, I'll do it now. No, Photoshopping should never be required for a CC. That's not what CCs are for. CCs are handily the most inclusive competition we have in the forums, and should be. At any given time, pretty much any day of the week, someone should be able to go into the CCs, make an entry, and have a shot at winning. "If you don't have $700 for Photoshop, just sit on your thumbs for a week" does not square with this philosophy. That said, I wouldn't call for ending this CC, not that it would do me any good anyway.

If we keep the Photoshop requirement as a possibility, it sets a dangerous precedent. No one really has the authority to set hard rules for what the CC winner does. Nothing is really keeping me from declaring myself winner-for-life and replacing comicking with sack races to be held on Saturday afternoons. Therefore, we need some kind of a consensus; I for one think that consensus should be (and, in practice, is) "the winner of a CC starts the next CC, which is a comic-making contest." That allows leeway for winners to allow Photoshopped entries, but not to require it. Honestly, I'd like to have a contest for funny songs, recorded at home and MP3-encoded, but if I decide to start one, I won't pick CC as my platform, because not everyone has recording equipment.

I think that's all I have to say on the subject at the moment. Flame on!

Wow. Good point. I DO have Photoshop, and I DO have the skillz to do this contest. I also have a hosting site and a friend here who has hosted stuff for me in the past. It's not an issue for ME. But I don't like the exclusion. A lot of newbies and non-Photoshoppers might have some good ideas, and they're being excluded. Why have an elitist CC? Seriously, why?

Hypothetically though, you don't need Photoshop, or any graphics program to do it. You can use paint if you want to, it's just a little bit tricky.

If you look HERE. This isn't the first time this has been done in a contest. Also, if you look very closely there was no outrage involved. I guess it was just a simpler time.

Then don't compete in this contest. Another one will follow, jump in on the next one.

You know what I hate? People who use S-E-X to try and gain a few points.

if you have windows you have mspaint. use that, or don't compete.

I'm kind of split on this, but I think I come down on the side of letting the contest winner do anything they want with their contest. If it got to where every cc was photoshopped, I wouldn't like it much, simply because I can't host images so couldn't enter. But as an occasional thing, I have no problem with it.

And also, whether or not people DO have problems with it will be reflected in the number of people entering. I was surprised when I came on an hour or so ago and saw there was still only 2 comics in the current contest. It seems that, at least so far, there isn't a whole lot of interest in the idea. So peeps in the future will probably be less likely to require photoshopping even if they do allow it.

It's self-regulating is my point.

But again, if it got to where every other cc required photoshop, I think it would be a good idea to adopt a "can be allowed but never required" photoshopping policy. Otherwise you'd be alienating a chunk of people just so you can do in Comic Competitions what you could already do in Photoshop Valley.

Once again, I'm agreeing with Obijo. No, he doesn't have me tied up and is using my login to make me say that.

Why thank you for that unprovoked opinion, Spankling. And also for not making fun of my white-yellow colorblindness when I told you about it.

Yeah, it's so sickening. I mean, I would hate it if someone did something like using a forumusers character and adding bare breasts to it, just to garner votes. That would just be wrong!

just to be a cock, i'd like to point out that it was a simpler time before the creation of Photoshop Valley.

I agree it's really bad form to REQUIRE anything but what can be done on stripcreator.com in a CC. I mean, this is a site which lets you make comics, right? That's what the CCs are about. Anything else graphical should be done in PhotoShop Valley.

However, just because it's bad form doesn't mean we need to regulate it yet. Only a few cum monkeys have done this so far; I don't think it's an epidemic yet.

I do, however, support the sack race idea.

Fucking contest Nazis if you don't like this don't compete in it. It's that simple.

I have to say Im probably against photoshopping being required to enter a comic contest, Ive seen it used as an option on numerous contests, but always at the stippers own discretion and always with the emphasis on doing a regular comic. That said contests only run for a week or so, and theres plenty of other things for people to do, FTCs, running ideas and cliches into the ground, ranting at newbies in RMDC, even good old fashioned coming up with new comic ideas, But Habnems point is a valid one.

I guess my only complaint(s) about the Photoshop-only CC went thusly:

I can't photoshop to save anyone's life. Not that anyone's life is really all that much worth saving.

There is already a forum with photoshop contests.

Beyond that, whatever. That's why I ended my complaint with mentioning the next contest. Cuz I won't be able to enter this one.

Is all.
