Now, I know what you're all thinking "This shit isn't funny, it's not even trying to be funny". Well fuck it. Anyway, if any of you have a little bit of experience with culinary arts, I'd like a little help here.

I have been wondering for ages now, how the hell do I make sparkling jello without the special packets? I've tried a lot of stuff, including stuff I should have known not to bother with. For example, did you know that when you put baking soda into jello, you get a disgusting mess? And that any type of carbonated water you put into jello will be flat long before the jello begins to set?

Well I do.

So, if anyone out there has ever successfully made carbonated jello without the special sparkling jello stuff, I'd love to hear some suggestions. I really want to try the stuff, but ever since Jello took it off the market, I haven't found a single decent way to do it. :\

Interesting. I didn't realize there was a special formula. Then again, I've had three boxes of that stuff and a bazillion boxes of regular sitting in my cupboard for a while since I can't make Jello in my fridge. It freezes the mess before it turns into jiggly goodness.

Want me to compare the ingredients on the back for you?

Thanks, but that's not gonna help. I checked the Jello site and they said it used a TOP SECRET INGREDIENT! Which I assume is about as hard to make as "special sauce".

http://recipecircus.com/recipes/johnstun/JELLO/Sparkling_Jello.html ... I don't know if you've tried this, but it's worth looking at.

^-^ We tried the carbonated way one time as well and it never made any damn bubbles, but when I was a kid, Mom used to use an electric beater when it was half set and it DID make a 3 layer jello that was kind of bubbly (just not carbonated bubbly). Maybe you should try it and hope it doesn't become a horrendous mess.

I have two, count 'em, TWO boxes of sparkling Jello in my pantry. Original and "berry."

I don't know whether to save them or use them.

I think I have a few too. We should collect them, box them up and send them to DX. How about a contest?

P.S. There's a Jello recipe ad at the top of the page.
I suspect it replaced the K-Y Jello ad Spankling's comment generated.

Jello jigglers were the best. I made a little Jello army out of an US Army mould and then slowly devoured the little airplanes and tanks. It was glorious.

Also, I remember a type of Jello that would produce a thin layer of citrusy fog from a Halloween party I attended a couple years ago. Don't know how the hell they made it. Anyone know how to make that stuff?
