...and here is your chance to prove it.

Carrying on from a conversation in another thread, in which Gabe was wondering just what had fallen out of his brain to make room for all the shit that seems to accumulate in there, please list all of the things you can think of that mark you as a colossal geek. I'll start, shall I?

- Encyclopaedic knowledge of Doctor Who actors, companions, storylines, and serial titles.

- Parrot-like ability to recite a huge amount of Monty Python, Goon Show, The Princess Bride, Doug Anthony All Stars, Tripod, and many other comedy acts and films.

- My favourite long-distance driving game is a thing I call "Horror Movie Challenge", in which people in the car mention an actor, and I do the six-degrees thing (movies and actors only) to link them to a horror movie via the shortest path possible. As the game goes on, I am not allowed to use the same chains of actors and movies more than once, so it gets harder and harder.

- A fairly thorough knowledge of horror movies, and their casts and directors, obviously.

- A shitload of other movie trivia, including special effects people and the techniques they use (Harryhausen and Savini are living GODS!).

- Linguistics. I don't just study it, I live it. If you don't like it, I have a voiceless interlabial trill for you. *razz*

That will do for now, I think. Please, join me and embarrass yourself as well.

I don't know as I'm colossal...

The only reasons I try to learn languages are when some form or entertainment I'm into is in a different one. For instance, I studied Japanese freelance style for 5 years because of an anime/import video game hobby. Right now, I think I would like to learn Swedish just because Vintersorg's music is so damn cool.

Mmmm... I'm trying to splice together pieces of voice acting from Resident Evil into something totally perverse.

At one point, I had Monty Python and the Holy Grail memorized line by line.

I'll think of more eventually, I'm sure of it.

I forgot what I said before but I'll say it again.

- I've seen the Star Wars Trilogy so much that I have it memorized.

- My favorite books are Dune, Foundation, The Martian Chronicles, Rama, and The Terminal Man.

- I am the only person I know so far who has read all 6 of the original Dune series and the 2 new ones by B Herbert and K.J.A.(which suck by the way)

- I have read almost every Star Wars book for the Expanded Star Wars Universe(some of the ones I missed are the new ones, the Han Solo and Lando Calrisian Adventures, The Splinter of the Mind's Eye, and a few others)

- I've read all the Redwall books from Redwall to Marlfox(the new ones are never out in paperback.

- I've seen many of the newer Jackie Chan movies intentionally(the only older one I saw was Dragon Fist), Police Story, PS2 PS3, First Strike, Supercop, Rumble In the Bronx, Crime Story, Shanghi Noon, Who am I, Rush Hour, Mr. Nice Guy, Drunken Master II, Miracles.(My favorite Martial Arts series was Once Upon a Time in China with Jet Li)

- Video Games are a lifestyle(but it's wearing off now).

- Up until a few months ago, I had 1 friend.

- While I was out of school, I picked up and studied basic logic for a stint.

- Spock is one of my heroes.

- After seeing the movie "Patton", I went out and read the book it was based on.

- The best duos in history? Bill and Ted, Bob and Doug Mackenzie, Elwood and Jake Blues.

- My favorite bands are Weather Report and Chicago.

-Whenever I find a webcomic I like, I have to go to the beginning and read every single comic, no matter how many years' worth I have to go through to get to the current. I am always disappointed that I have to stop at some point. I've done this with over 20 comics.

-I read at least two books a week. They are always either SF or exposes of the government.

-I have been playing video games since I was 2, and was completely shocked the first time I heard they were a "hobby", at 15 years of age.

-I can tell you the exact sequence of events from the first, second and third Robotech Wars from memory.

-I have 8 hours worth of Conan O'Brien sketches on tape.

-I raise carnivorous plants as a hobby.

-I write SF and comic book scripts.

-I play at in at least 2 RPG groups a week.

-I've turned down women who asked me out because I knew there'd be hell to pay once they found out what my life was like.

Of course, the fact that I'm as good-looking as I am is enough to negate all of those by itself.

-- A have about a dozen VHS tapes filled with "Daria" episodes.

-- I made my own voicepacks for "Unreal Tournament" using sound clips from 80's sci-fi flicks.

-- Somewhere, I still have the instruction books to over a half dozen role-playing games.

-- I just posted the "putrid pile of arse" thread.

-- I masturbate to the Teletubbies. (OK, I made that one up.)

-- I actually like some of Wirthling's comics. 'Nuff said...

Besides my geekdom degree, let's see...

  • as chronicled elsewhere, wrote a stripcreator comic that incorporated the last name of every US president
  • have 14 hours of AL-TV on video (and that's with most commercials excised) and 2 months of live Dead shows on audio (if you laid all those tapes end-to-end, you'd probably swear off donkeys.) Also on video: every episode of "Get Smart" and "The Monkees", and a half dozen Ed Wood films.
  • had a D&D character named Fronan (a hobbit barbarian whose mount was a sheep). Also once rolled up a Magic-User named W'rofticy. Unfortunately, he died in his first adventure, so he never got beyond the rank of Prestidigitator.
  • can spell "prestidigitator"
  • got into my car at about 6:30 one morning at my home in Champaign, IL, to attend a party some 700 miles away in Sterling, VA, due to start at 7:30 that night. I arrived at 7:25.
  • as a teen read Playboy for the articles (mostly)
  • in high school math class, wrote a BASIC program so that the class could have a weekly lottery. Won some good money off it too.

I am such a minor geek.

** I spent 6 months designing a planet for AD&D and 2 years allowing people to muck about in it.

** I've been playing RPGs since text and today I wish Diablo had more RP to it.

** I have a small circle of friends I've known since 1975. We played togther. We tripped together. And now we grow old together.

** I saw the original star wars the second week it played and thought it was nice, but not worth all the press.

** I worship old basball parks and see the DH rule as a sin against nature.

No math. No coding. I got laid in high school by a few girls who had nothing better to do.

Sorry.

I see it as a minor annoyance. To me, bigger sins against nature are astroturf, symmetrical outfields, the strike zones umps call, Jackson and Rose not in Cooperstown, more than 60 seconds of commercials between half-innings, and 5 bucks for a small cup of pisswater. I'm still undecided on "No Pepper Games."

When I was at school my friends and I once snuck into one of the computing labs and wrote BASIC programs on all of the computers, causing them to make continual and very annoying noises. We then ran out, giggling.

Boy, I'm not sure which way to go on this one. Part of me thinks I'm geekier than all y'all, but the other part thinks I'm generally a super cool frood. So, let's see:

*I am an engineer who watches Star Trek religiously = +5 Geek
*I can outdrink anyone I've ever met = -4 Geek
*I have a spaceship welcome mat = +3 Geek
*I once ran over a man with my car to knock a gun out of his hand = -5 Geek (He lived)
*I got the hell beat out of me my first two years in high school = +2 Geek
*I beat the hell out of everyone that beat the hell out of me my junior and senior year in high school = -2 Geek
*I now avoid fighting = +3 Geek
*Because I don't want to hurt anyone = -2 Geek
*I watch more Sci-Fi than anyone I know = +4 Geek
*I watch more sports than anyone I know = -4 Geek
*I had a 4.0 GPA my first four years of college = + 7 Geek
*I had a 2.1 GPA my last three years of college = - 3 Geek
*It took me seven years to finish college = -3 Geek

Which is pretty even, till you consider this:

31728

Which is +23 Geek, making the finally tally +24. Geekness thou art mine.

You call yourself fat in this thread, well chances are I weigh more than you. You say you can drink in this thread, well chances are I can drink more than you. Ever here the stories about Andre the Giant's drinking prowess? I'm right there. Sad commentary on my weight and my liver, but true.
