I don't use the photo backgrounds all that often, but I just got back from a castle-filled vacation and thought some of those photos might fit well with Kaddar's king, wizard, valkyrie, viking, & knight. Take a look; I dropped in a legless and legged character for comparison purposes...

I would definitely use those as backgrounds if they were an option.

I'm all for adding them, particularly the 1st, 4th, 6th, 7th and 8th if we can't have them all.

Could I also ask that the flag in the first one along with whatever is sticking in on the right hand side be edited out, and the third be straightened slightly?

I'd use them all. Don't take the people out of the castle one, we don't have any backgrounds with a crowd in them.

1-2, and 4 are good. I really like 5-8.

3 reminds me of the temple background too much and gives me High Anxiety.

I think this might be a good time (Once Brad is finished with the comic comments) to put all the backgrounds into several different categories, with a second box to the side, like the characters have. I like having lots of backgrounds, but as I'm always drunk, I can never remember which ones are photos and which are drawn. Or really what any of them are most of the time. The list has gotten pretty big. I'm thinking for categories:

photographic
home
abstract
solid color
inside
outside
misc

These are just suggestions, I sort of scanned through the list. I dunno, what do you think?

Categorising the backgrounds would make a lot of sense. I can never find the one I want, especially since the existing list is not sorted alphabetically.

I also would make use of choad's castlesque backgrounds were they to become available.

I've had people suggest a kitchen to me about a hundred times. Basically, I just don't feel like doing one as it will be a pain in the ass to get all the requirements for a kitchen stuffed in that little area at a slightly tilted perspective.

Although I guess it is possible to do a 2 or 3 part background (like the classroom) with a different appliance in each frame (one fridge, one stove on sink).

is there some movement against using real photos? or is it an ownership thing? i just went on google images and in no time found four that could work if cropped

I think photos taint the hand-drawn goodness, but maybe that's just me...

I like photo backgrounds. Sometimes when you have brightly colored hand drawn characters over them, it creates sort of a 3D effect.

I love 205.jpg also.

We could use something like this. Except, you know, pleasant to look at. So like it would look like the cute cartoon animals just fucked. That's supposed to be a bed, by the way.

Oh, in case anyone was wondering, the reason for the picture is to give it a perspective, so it looks like it's being shot from above. Unless that was totally obvious to everyone, in which case I just actually said, "Boobs."

I like Rabid's cartoonish style better. Posterizing those suckers was a clever idea.

I know some like he BG to look more like drawings. I don't see the problem so much. Just throwing these out there for ideas.

I don't mind a mix of photo and drawing-type backgrounds, because I like both. The kitchen, by the way, is "neat-o."

I like the kitchen. The first two Spankling posted would probably see a lot of use, but I'm not too sure about the second too. They'd be pretty cool, but personaly I think they'd be hard to use.
