Donors should see red arrows beside the category pulldowns on the make a comic page. Clicking this will pop up a browser where you can choose your characters from thumbnails. I'm still working on the layout. Let me know if you have any problems.

This is so cool it is erotic and bound to be illegal.

THANK YOU!

I also see we got a bunch of new characters as well in "holiday", or am I just going crazy?

We've been slowly adding more art and I haven't been announcing it all as it's just been one or two things at a time. There's a discussion over here.

What's the number pull-down do? I haven't seen any effect.

That should select the character slot that you're updating. So if you set it to "4", it will update the right character in the second panel.

Ah. I had been only viewing; hadn't tried selecting. I see that it doesn't adjust for 1- and 2-panel comics (in a 1-panel strip, you can still select 3-6, which becomes a no-op).

Yeah I'll have to add that in later. As well as making it clearer what that character pulldown does.

I reckon this feature will prove invaluable in 6 months- 1 year when we've got so much art, not even the regs will be able to tell where everything is.

It would have be a better feature for newbs, but the bandwidth implications of implementing it for non-donors are prohibitive.

Always props to brad for his painstaking breakage and fixing of the site, though.

Looks great. Seems to act well. I, too, was cornfused about the character selector because I had resized the window and blocked the comic panels.

Maybe you could break that selector up into Frame 1 >left >right, Frame 2 >left >right, etc. That might prove overly complicated. A simple text line of instruction would no doubt help along the unwise.

It's not displaying properly for me. Not on my mac, PC, laptop, or boorite's laptop. Not all of the characters will load (displays empty rectangles) and when i try to reload, sometimes all but a few disappear and there's little itty bitty tiny rectangles where characters should be.

This is in Internet Explorer? I'm seeing the same thing here.

Yup indeedy. I haven't checked on Firefox or anything else because I never use them. And Netscape hasn't worked properly for a while.

Very shiny :)

When I clicked it, 3 windows popped up. Also, some chars are displaying as broken boxes. I'm using Mozilla.

I haven't witnessed the three windows thing. There are definitely some bugs in my resizing code though that I'll have to work out.

Feh, probably my computer acting retarded then (as usual). :) Otherwise I find it to be a wonderful new addition in its rough stages.

Would it be useful to just save thumbnails of every character on the server instead of resizing them on the fly?

I think that's what I'm going to try next. I was hoping to get away with some sneaky javascript but I have been foiled by IE again.

Okay I changed this to work off of real thumbnails. Should work better in IE and also not jump around so much when it loads. Also it's better on bandwidth, which is sweet too.
