Been there , done that. Used to think it was deep and meaningful. now recognise it as a poorly thought out version of attention seeking.

Do not ask people to hate you in the hope they will say "We love you really". the Nature of man is to follow the simplest route , which is to agree with whatever he is told.

Just because we've all been "depressed" and wanted attention before doesn't mean that depression and self-hatred aren't genuine for some people.

I don't know enough about Alcyonae to know whether she's truly depressed, seeking attention, or both. If she's for real, she has my sympathy and empathy.

Same here, evil_d. The people who cut themselves, threaten suicide and so on are in real pain, and they are also the ones most likely to attempt suicide. I was just ribbing her in a friendly way.

Ive had a lot of friends like that , and most have grown out of it by about 22-24. Its the ones who havent who you most need to worry about.

Back in high school and early college I knew people who talked about killing themselves. I would sit and talk with them, maybe pry a bottle out of their hands and put their guitar back in. There was some blood now and then, but everyone lived. Then one day a person I knew for years that had never mentioned suicide sent his family out of town and popped the business end of a colt pistol into his mouth. He was 37.

He was a joker - laughed at everything and made others laugh. We all knew he had low self-esteem, but he seemed to always joke his way out of it. We had no idea how tightly wrapped he was. I've been mad at him and myself ever since.

You never know about others. And to anyone thinking about it; you never know about tomorrow no matter how many days of fear and despair you've seen. Try to remain curious, if not hopeful - anything could happen. Even something good.

I'm horribly depressed 80% of the time, the rest of which is spent wit friends, playing music, or justtrying to find something to do.
I only let really good freinds know I'm depressed, and that's not you guys :P
