I was curious if anyone has any problems with poking fun at religion (Not to purposly offend any religious group, but just to give it that tasteless sense of humour about it we were forbibben to even think about when we were growing up).

I think making fun of religion is plain wrong.

Incidentally, that Ezekiel reference is a load of shit. In fact, most of Chick's Bible references are taken out of context or are just plain wrong. I just love the idea that when your children are rebellious or individual, that means they are under the influence of Satan. These are obviously people who thought The Exorcist was a documentary.

I am planning a Chick tract parody, along these lines:

Jack - "It is bad and sinful to be a homosexual! Homosexuals are all Hell-bound!"

Me - "Oh... so you are saying that bad behaviour damns you to Hell?"

Jack - "Abso-darned-lutely!"

Me - "So... conversely, good behaviour gets you into Heaven?"

Jack - "Oh, no, only sinful Hell-bound Catholics believe that. Faith in Jesus is the only way to get to Heaven."

Me - "Wait a minute... are you saying that a homosexual Catholic with faith in Jesus will go to Heaven?"

Jack - "Uh... I... suppose so. But homosexuality is bad and Catholicism leads to faithin idols."

Me - "But does it matter?"

Jack - "Of course it matters!"

Me - "Why? You said yourself that faith in Jesus gets you into Heaven, regardless of what you do. As such, isn't it a waste of time telling everyone how homosexuality is bad, and Catholicism is bad, and Judaism is bad..."

Jack - "Hey! Jews don't recognise Jesus!"

Me - "Well, they have faith in God..."

Jack - "But not Jesus!"

Me - "I thought Jesus and God were the same person."

Etc etc etc...

Have I mentioned that I despise the little filthy little hatemonger?

Someone once told me that the old testament came about and said "do things this way or else" then the new testament came about and said "here, this is easier, follow this." In 2321, christianity will be about doing exactly whatever the hell you want to do and getting paid for it. The trend is clear. I know very few christians that actually listen to the bible. They accept the parts of it that are congruent to their own belief system, and dismiss the parts that don't fit. This is the evolution of religion. Religion is evolving itself out of existence.

Which, imo, is the natural and healthy course for mankind.
